Wild Bill from up on the hill

I meant the one about Obama saying HE killed Bin Laden...he tells so many, I can't keep up

Fly: "...also Bummer told the Russian's on open myke to wait until he was elected again and the HE WOULD HAVE MORE OPTION's..."

And what exactly was he talking about? We have no idea. Regardless, Obama and Putin have no love loss for each other so I don't think we have done Putin any favors. Do you?

It didnt bother Bummer from taking credit that HE got Laden or that they use Seal Team Six members did it.

First off, he did not take personal credit for Bin Laden's death. He stated that we as in the USA got him and gave praise to Team 6. Now how did any of that compromise security?

So they can make money and TV appearances worth Millions while his family suffers !!!

That makes no sense at all. The beginning of the book complains that they didn't get enough attention.

That's how business, and government, works. Employees do the work, executives get the rewards. Do you think that Bill Gates personally built Windows 8? Or that Mark Fields personally builds every Ford?

If one hasn't stood in the door, HALO'd into hostile territory, humped a ruck ten miles in darkness, only to witness a gaping hole where your team member's face used to be.... then perhaps one might want to temper their comments. These men know more about honor, sacrafice, devotion and discipline than 99.99% of the populace. I was once told by a Sergeant Major, "Never question your butcher how he makes his sausage, just enjoy it." The SEAL community polices their own. I'll leave them to it.

Remember while you sleep cozily in your bed tonight, there are operators thinking of their wives and children, praying good fortune, training and the ammo holds out until they reach the exfil point.

Sleep well little armchair generals.

He keeps saying in the first article, why can the high-ranking officials talk about it, but I can't?

After all of his training, he doesn't seem to understand that they are the bosses, and he is the employee. They decide what can be exposed, not him.

The Navy SEAL ethos:

In times of war or uncertainty there is a special breed of warrior ready to answer our Nation's call. A common man with uncommon desire to succeed. Forged by adversity, he stands alongside America's finest special operations forces to serve his country, the American people, and protect their way of life. I am that man.

My Trident is a symbol of honor and heritage. Bestowed upon me by the heroes that have gone before, it embodies the trust of those I have sworn to protect. By wearing the Trident I accept the responsibility of my chosen profession and way of life. It is a privilege that I must earn every day. My loyalty to Country and Team is beyond reproach. I humbly serve as a guardian to my fellow Americans always ready to defend those who are unable to defend themselves. I do not advertise the nature of my work, nor seek recognition for my actions. I voluntarily accept the inherent hazards of my profession, placing the welfare and security of others before my own. I serve with honor on and off the battlefield. The ability to control my emotions and my actions, regardless of circumstance, sets me apart from other men. Uncompromising integrity is my standard. My character and honor are steadfast. My word is my bond.

We expect to lead and be led. In the absence of orders I will take charge, lead my teammates and accomplish the mission. I lead by example in all situations. I will never quit. I persevere and thrive on adversity. My Nation expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than my enemies. If knocked down, I will get back up, every time. I will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect my teammates and to accomplish our mission. I am never out of the fight.

We demand discipline. We expect innovation. The lives of my teammates and the success of our mission depend on me - my technical skill, tactical proficiency, and attention to detail. My training is never complete. We train for war and fight to win. I stand ready to bring the full spectrum of combat power to bear in order to achieve my mission and the goals established by my country. The execution of my duties will be swift and violent when required yet guided by the very principles that I serve to defend. Brave men have fought and died building the proud tradition and feared reputation that I am bound to uphold. In the worst of conditions, the legacy of my teammates steadies my resolve and silently guides my every deed. I will not fail.

The author also violated the trust of his team by publicizing private discussions:

Matt Bissonnette wrote in his book about casual chatter among SEALs, which he portrayed as less than supportive of President Obama. An Army special operations guy who read that passage was shocked.

"That's just 'team talk' around the fire," he said.

Does anybody expect that to show up in a book? The men on these small covert units literally place their lives in the hands of each other. They trust that they'll keep each others' confidence. And confidence must be unshakeable at the highest levels.

When the White House identified SEAL Team 6 as those responsible, camera crews swarmed into their Virginia Beach neighborhood, taking shots of the SEALs' homes.

After bin Laden's face appeared on their TV in the days after the killing, the Shooter cautioned his older child not to mention the Al Qaeda leader's name ever again "to anybody. It's a bad name, a curse name."

When the family asked about any kind of government protection should the Shooter's name come out, they were advised that they could go into a witness-protection-like program.

Just as soon as the Department of Defense creates one.

"They [SEAL command] told me they could get me a job driving a beer truck in Milwaukee" under an assumed identity. Like Mafia snitches, they would not be able to contact their families or friends. "We'd lose everything."

"These guys have millions of dollars' worth of knowledge and training in their heads," says one of the group at my house, a former SEAL and mentor to the Shooter and others looking to make the transition out of what's officially called the Naval Special Warfare Development Group. "All sorts of executive function skills. That shouldn't go to waste."

And, I agree with moving...SEAL's, Rangers, Delta Force and other Spec Ops should keep their mouths shut about their missions, PERIOD

Bandit, what do you expect but lies coming from the people who tried to give G W Bush the credit for the killing of Bin Laden? That's all they do, its who they are.

Wrong weepub. As stated, I have no idea what the book says, be it for/against the Obama administration. Can't you just once look beyond the Obama factor and see that these people are in a unique position to let out secrets that are not in the best interest of the country, the military, to divulge. I'd say the same if they were talking about missions that occurred under "w's" watch. They swore an oath to remain silent and I think that means they give up the possibility of future monetary gain because of something they can make a quick buck off of. National Security and the safety of our military people should come first. Maybe if enough time had passed that it was no longer a safety concern because tactics, equipment, the enemy had grossly changed, then I wouldn't have a problem with it so much. But that's not the case here.

Even Jackie O had things she wouldn't allow to be made public until long after her death.

I think he and the others that talked should have kept their mouths shut...at least until the Pentagon gave the OK. I also don't like the idea of the seals (or any military personnel) helping design video games that divulge actual military tactics. They swear an oath and that is being cast aside for money and fame. JMO

Haven't read his book and have no idea what it says, but, anything is too much I think. Secret missions are supposed to be just that...secret.
