Coldturkey,
I'm not mad in the slightest sense of the word, but I'll remind you that early in this thread I suggested that if you want answers about Moravian Falls FD's finances, response protocols, staffing etc that you should GO BY MORAVIAN FALLS FD AND SPEAK WITH THE CHIEF.

Mtn, are you saying you are okay with community assets like fire trucks going to events put on by mega corporations for vast amounts of money and getting nothing in return? Personally I don't are what any fire chief in the county does in their free time. With the exception of the towns, they are part time or volunteers. I commend them for what they do because it is not an easy job. With that said, when they accepted the position, they understood that the everything that happens in their district is their responsibility, good or bad. If no one responds to calls, that is on the fire chief to explain why and fix it. For some reason, people seem to think that because they do it for free, they should be able to do whatever they like with the fire departments equipment and no one can question that.

Here is a solution to the two posters that have an issue. Join the department in your district get all the training and credentials to become a chief. Then get voted in as chief so you can not attend any functions other than being at your station 24/7 to run all the calls you want.

I will take that as a yes to the answer to the question.

Uno that parade is definitely not on my favorite things list. Especially because it seems like all the departments bring their brand new, best truck to the parade, and unless they are Wilkesboro or North Wilkesboro, they are not in their district. Many are several districts away. So they take their best truck away from their district, the people that pay for it......

Helping out with race events a few days out of the year is a deal breaker for you?

Wait til you hear about fire trucks being in parades that most every fire station in this country attend.

You looking for a personal fire truck?

June, though I haven't seen a set date yet.

Like Newkid, I own property there, however, due to the issues they seem to have, do not feel it would be a safe place for an older, retired person to live. Newkid, when is this meeting?

NewKidOnTheBlock

I own property in their fire district. And before you say it, I do plan to attend their annual meeting and ask these questions in person if I can't get a satisfactory answer.

Do either of you live in the Moravian Falls Fire District?

Newkid, thanks for chiming in and backing up another one of my questions I can't seem to get an answer to.

I would be more curious to know if the departments that take fire trucks to the track are being reimbursed for the fuel and use of those trucks or is it just being written off at the expense of the tax payers.

ding, ding , ding, we have a winner

Kabooooom

What if you don't have an emergency while they are at the race? Will you still be jealous?

Don't have all the answers but common sense should tell you some answers to your dilemma. No fire department volunteer or paid will take every member to an event and leave their district helpless. I do know that on house fires more than 1 department will run that call and other surrounding departments will be on standby as well.

I would reach out to the chief and ask what their protocol is since every department is going to be different or call the county office and ask to speak to the fire Marshal they may be able to help answer your questions.

Nothing gets by you foxnose! I'm SUPER JEALOUS!!!! I can't believe all the departments are selfish enough not to run and hide out at the racetrack and let calls in their own district go unanswered by the people that pay taxes so they have money to drive the units, bought by the tax money, to the track! WHO WOULDN'T BE JEALOUS??? I want to live in a district, where if I have a medical emergency during this almighty race week, I have a better chance of dying than getting someone to respond to help me. Foxnose, if you would have chimed in 70 comments ago, you could have solved the whole dang problem! How selfish of you to wait.

Sounds like a lot of jealousy coming from the murmurers.

I would be curious to know exactly how many members of fire departments are at the race track. Obviously someone has to work the event but I wonder how many districts get depleted. I heard Broadway will have trucks at the track to cover outside fire's, EMS was moved to the outside and rescue is sending ambulances to work the actual race. Of course Mo Falls will have trucks and people there.

mtnguy you seem to have all the answers, tell me what the plan is. I'm going off what the great Albert said to do and went on their website to get the information. Now, he seems mad at himself for assuming. Since he finally found the dead end of his logic, let's give yours a whirl.

Are people really this stoooopid ? Cold turkey no fire department will take all members out of the district to work at an event. Dear lord where is common sense is lacking more and more.

Coldturkey,
You know what they say about making assumptions.
