I think that tract of land is for sale. Faw realty has a for sale sign across the street in front of Wilkesboro Civic Center and In front of WES.

Don`t think the Greenway would need to clear cut the property. I realize the need and the right to make money on your property, however looks like very little timber was gained by cutting this parcel. Mostly it is junk trees that go to the old Abitibi plant. Just really detracts from the festival over all look and feel.

Could be part of the Greenway extension? The Greenway currently stops at Burger King.

It is called making money with your private property. It has nothing to do with Merlefest

Lenient clear-cutting practices throughout Wilkes and our mountains leaves disgraceful scars on the landscape. A recent "clearing" just past Oakwoods Grocery on Brushy Mtn Rd created a huge eye sore for the residents in this area. Not sure about the specifics of Moravian Creek, but appears most folks allowing this type of "harvesting" don't take into account what the resulting appearance or effect upon the environment will be. While I appreciate the use of wood, as a renewable resource, there should be more responsible guidelines established over "slash and leave", clearcut harvesting.

Does anyone have a clue why the timber was cut across Moravian Creek from the Merlefest ? I was wondering if this had any relevance to the festival coming up in April. Is this bad timing or a possible money making scheme. I have to say it really looks awful and really changes the look and feel of the Merlefest grounds. Anyone ?
