I don't like Mexican food, especially the refried beans, which are mashed up pintos.

Plastic and alcohol added in the new location

It is the Best Mexican food in town! (Although I Love Monte's too)

They offer radishes and cucumbers with the chips and salsa. So delicious! I agree about cards- it would be terrific if the new location took cards too. No alcohol at their place, so it is a different feel than Monte's.

La Fortuna is a really good Mexican restaurant that is already operating that is moving to new location at the old Woodhaven building.

Hopefully they will accept cards (instead of cash only) at new location.

Does anyone know what kind of restaurant (La Fortunate) is going to be that is going in the old Woodhaven building across from CVS?

They have a sign up in front of the woodhaven building.

You are a few posts behind.

Anyway, I am glad to have finally gotten something right. I am the proverbial blind hog. Of course, when I can get some quality La Fortuna AND margaritas...I'll be the proverbial blind drunk hog.

I love their food, but never have cash on me to go that often. I look forward to the new location. I hope they do great there.

I doubt I ever go now that stretch of road sucks from the Post Office intersection to Walgreen's. Good they will take plastic people can dispute charges now and the business will have to pay card fees. Maybe they will go under and we get something NON mexico if enough people avoid

Just found out today! Grrranimal was right, they're moving to the old Woodhaven building! And I believe they're going to start accepting cards, too

They're not planning to open until the fall, though, so it's still several months away.

I like their sopes or hurachos (sp?) the Mexican style tacos are amazing too and the guacamole is the best I've ever had. They also can make things American style which is nice if you prefer ground beef.

Gotcha! I like some spicey hot wings but it also need some ranch or blue cheese dip, it depends really what else kinda food their is. I always heard indian food is really....really spicey that they give you a menu on hot you want it and caution people to be very careful when ordering along with someone who could suggest a mild heat when it will be actually hotter then normal. I had the worst ****s in a while that I kinda felt like I might have been paying for my sins after finishing my dinner. It had to be the spiceyness of their dish because it did not come out so well when digesting it.
I can go to that village in and my mouth with be on fire with that hot sauce that if not for the dip they provide on the salad bar, I'd still be sweating it out. I was sitting that table one day and no matter how delicious they was, it still burnt like holy jesus!

Oh and they're hot salsa is actually spicy (unlike other places with watered down salsa) so don't ask for that if you don't like spicy food, go with mild!

Rose, I always get camarones a la diabla but I like spicy food and I don't believe you do!

But I've never heard anyone complain about a meal they've gotten there (at least not in person, some GWers complain about everything) so I'd say it's safe to try anything on their menu

Just order what you like at other Mexican places! Can't go wrong with a simple taco or burrito!

I didn't mean that Golden Wok IS closing, I said it as a "maybe." Just trying to think of possible places that La Fortuna could be moving to. It would have to be an old restaurant building for them to think they'll be able to move and reopen that quickly.

I don't think anything is ever going to open in the old Bojangles building, the roof is falling in and it's probably going to have to be torn down and rebuilt.
The old Woodhaven is a thought. There's also the old DeeJay's building on School Street. Or maybe one of the outparcels around Walmart is planning to close and they'll just take over the lease... Golden Wok, maybe? Or even Shanghai...

I'm sick and tired of Tex-Mex, too, and this is the closest thing to authentic Mexican that we have! I hope they do well in their new location, but I also hope they take cards so I can eat there more often.

I didn't know golden wok was going out of business, but Shanghai defiantly needs a replacement with another Chinese buffet.
Hopefully if we ever get one, it will be with better employees and food. I wouldn't risk feeding my dog her favorite red chicken I always pick up while in lenior do to their low grade.Leniors got a sushi bar made all day and it's the bomb! Why can't the move down here!
