Sadly, the bottom line is...there are quite a few haters on gowilkes!

I might have been wrong about it being illegal, but it is still hate speech and it is still allowed on here.

When was "hate speech" criminalized? in 2017 the US Supreme Court was unanimous in its decision that "hate speech" is protected by the 1st Amendment.


Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that a law that can be directed against speech, even when it is offensive to some portion of the public, can be turned against minority and dissenting views and that is bad for everyone.

Justice Alito wrote that protecting the freedom to express "the thought that we hate" is the proudest sign of our free speech laws.

Certainly the moderator of this site has the right to prohibit any type of speech that he or she wants, but it is misleading and incorrect to state that "hate speech" is illegal.

It is only going to take one gay person to get offended. You do realize one of Wilkes County main judges is gay and is married to a same sex individual?
