IF you say people with mental disorders cannot own guns then you need to include people with children and say they cannot own guns either.

Can we all agree that people with known mental disorders shouldn't own guns?

No Hep , we cant. There is no WAY of knowing. 5 years ago you may have been a stable, upstanding, pillar of the community, with a wonderful family. Then you get on drugs,or you drink to much, any numbers of reasons, and one day you snapped for no reason and went wacko, tell me one test that will determine that.

Whats next, they cant own an car, they cant drive ??? where does it end ??

Call and get your mom a ballot. She can vote in absentia. You can explain it to her.

The issue is, she is not mentally competent to vote.

Truth, Im sorry to hear about you mothers condition, Its a terrible terrible disease. I have a very good friend that has Alzhimers. I do wish you and Your mother the very best in the upcoming days and weeks ahead. May god be with you and give you strength.

I'm not voting for a president cause I feel either one could tun the table;s but congress and the goverment system is anouther thing. I really can't choose a president cause I don't know which would be the benefit of the country.

Yes as long as she makes her own choices she could vote for donald duck if she wanted as that is her right. It is not anyones place to tell her she can't vote sick or not.

My point is you have to take tests for things that are a lot less important than those covered under the bill of rights. My mom has Alzheimer's , do you think she should go vote? It would be irresponsible because she doesn't even know who the president is, or even what year it is. But she can read, sign her name and mark an x in the box.

Joseph, do you have to take a test before you drive a car or motorcycle? It all doesn't have to mean a slippery slope. Regulations are needed for a lot of things, people need to have a test before they cut your hair or manicure your fingernails. I honestly don't see a problem with stricter psychological testing if it stops some of the people that shouldn't have guns.

I see you don't have a clue about this subject. Having to take a test to drive a car or ride a motorcycle or cut peoples hair or manicure someones fingernails is not the same thing as none of these things are rights protected by the Bill of rights in the US Constutution. However the freedom of speech and reglion, right to own firearms and voting are protect by the bill of rights. You need to go back to school and learn the difference between rights and privileges as the are not even close to the same thing

Truthseeker: I agree. If we don't do some prior screening, then all we're doing is reacting after the fact. It's too late then. At least we can keep the KNOWN dangerous folks from obtaining weapons. If a person has a clean record, no worries.
