Look it's not just in Wilkes. My friend had a RO over a couple of text messages and now can't buy a dang job. Stupid I know, but sometimes a misdemeanor is as bad as a felony. If people had a clue how hard it is to find a job with ANYTHING on your record it might just make us think twice before doing stupid ****.

DUI and (especially) resisting arrest have serious repercussions. While it is obviously too late for this person, young people should take note that these crimes have long lasting and serious implications. What you do, matters!

Get him a professional grade weed eater and have him go around on foot trimming yards by the hour. It will take 5 years before his record won't count for most jobs so I hope he likes dirty jobs like landscaping and construction where it don't matter as much.

The lack of a DL is the big issue for employers. Without a DL, there is no guarantee that he will be able to get back and forth to work.

His options? Try Tyson. Try construction. Try lawn care companies. The Tyson option is probably out, honestly, and so are most regional/national companies.

Has he gone to Job Link? They're the ones most likely to help someone in his position.

Why doesn't he go work at a restaurant.

They don't do background checks.

Is that all he has, DUI, wreck and speeding ticket? Did this all happen at the same time? Does he have anything else on his record? Can he pass a drug test? Does he have a valid NCDL?

Like it or not, he will have to simply keep trying until someone feels comfortable giving him a chance. Given the current economic conditions, employers can be much more selective in their employment practices.
