I saw baiting on both sides, but this in my personal opinion way beyond decency. Both about death, or assault of innocent children as a political baiting. That was plain sick

FYI, I've been made aware of an issue that involved you recently, but of course we can't get involved with fights that are by Private Message. I only bring it up to point out that the person involved in that issue is definitely not the same person to whom Biteyourtongue is referring.

I've answered this request 21 times since 2012, and have always said the same thing. Maybe the 22nd time will stick:
Edit a Post: This, too, is trickier than you think. Because the site is so busy, it's not uncommon for someone to make a post, then have a reply within a few seconds. You can imagine the confusion when someone replies to a post, but then a minute later the original post is totally different!
Giving 30 seconds could help in theory, but it would require that you submit the changes within 30 seconds of submitting the original post. Giving a few seconds to come back to the original post, another few seconds to realize the error and click the Edit button, and a few seconds to submit the changes, it doesn't leave but a few seconds to make the changes and proofread them. I'm afraid that would cause more confusion than anything else.
Further, the only thing I suspect will be edited is when a specific word is filtered, the author will go back and keep trying variations until they find a way past the filter.

We may have our Difference's, but I will not and have not done that. There was a person a while back that logged in and created an ID every similar to mine in appearance. Jason said it was froma Remote id, such as a Smart phone or the like,,,,, Jason told me he created a Flag where that user, or any other user could not create an ID like mine.
Well then, you need to quit whining about favoritism, because I asked that truthspeaker not be allowed to change his name to that, and he said it was different enough. When everyone knows the poster changed his name from colon bowel to truthspeaker. I actually had another poster confuse me with that idiot, so they were close enough to cause confusion. |
FWIW, these instances were different in that the one to which redfly is referring was a clear impersonation. I forget what the trick was, but it was along the lines of replacing the lowercase L with a 1 so that it looked the same.
I never thought that "Truth Speaker" was intentionally trying to impersonate "Truthseeker911". They may be similar, sure, but there are 4 key differences; the space between words, the capital S, the spelling difference between "speak" and "seek", and the lack of numbers at the end.
Had he created "Truthspeaker911", or "Truth seeker911", I would have probably removed it. The key is whether it appears to be an intentional impersonation, as opposed to a coincidence.

I haven't started moderating yet, but please note that the best way to bring a thread to my attention is by clicking the "Report Inappropriate Usage" link at the bottom of the thread, or the "flag" icon at the top of the thread.
While it MAY be seen when you post it in a thread or by sending me a Private Message, there's then no documentation for it, which makes it difficult to create future filters to prevent posts.
Based on the subjects posted here, though, referring to someone as an "Obama voter" just because they're black is considered racist, and will be removed.
The second one ("I'm voting for Hagan because more Minority Babies need to Die!") appears to be more of a satire, which would not be a violation of the Terms & Conditions. The posts within may be different (as I said, I haven't read them yet), but the subject alone is acceptable.

This made me giggle. I understand getting upset if someone is posting about your private life, but that's why you don't give out info that anyone can use against you.
In saying that, too many people take this site too serious, as far as their popularity or acceptance here. Despite my name, this is a serious question, why is it important to be popular here? I honestly don't get why it matters.

Anytime you have emotionally charged topics like religion, politics, gay marriage, abortion, etc...you are going to have posters that disagree. Add to the fact that people get to post their opinions with a bit of anonymity and you are going to have conflicts....some of those even with mentally unstable people. Just be sure to keep "gowilkes" life separate from "real life". Be very careful giving your name and too much info. I've been guilty of giving to much info before and it bit me really quick. Lesson learned.
