But we've seen presidents go to similar services in the past, correct?
So the idea that the press or Secret Service would cause a distraction seems disingenuous.
And I'm not sure why he'd need an entourage. He could tell Turtle to just stay home.

Heather Heyer's mother did not want her funeral to be about politics, she said some had asked to attend, but she wanted the funeral to be for friends and family.

If the president had attended, it would have been a distraction.
Then, you would be harping on that....that he was making it all about him....or that he was rallying...or tweeting during the service or his face was too orange or he wasn't sincere or that he walked too loudly or he didn't send flowers or he didn't bring food.

Ms. Heyer's memorial service was very dignified.
You'd have thought maybe the president could've made an appearance...but we don't have that type of president.
