3.56 at Johnson Oil last week. Cash sale price. I hear Wilkes Oil is about the same.

When Duke Energy gets that 18% rate increase the Edenpure crowd will be crying the blues...

Watch what electric heater you are using... i used one for a couple months until my bill came and found out that it was costing me $400/month. Gas heat from logs is pretty good, gas furnace would be good, heat pump would be O.K. around here, etc. Do you have existing ductwork? Put in ceiling fans to circulate the air. kerosene(sp) would not be a bad idea as well.

If you have the funds, then i would suggest trying out a geothermal system. It might cost to install but it is very cost efficient from then on.

I hate to say it but I would support a government subsidized program portion of heating, electric, and water costs nationwide.

Although this won't heat your home, we used to put electric blankets on our recliner chairs and it kept us surprisingly warm (sitting on top of the blankets)....also put some on the sofas under the doggie-sheets to help keep the dogs toasty (they loved it!). Now when I get a chill and don't want to turn on the heat (or turn it up), I hang a heating pad over the back of my recliner and warm my lower back. It really helps to take the chill off.

Can't beat the wood heat. I know some people aren't able to deal with all the work it involves but if you can, it really is the best option. We have eclectric now and I miss using wood. When we lived on the mountain that's what we used. The woodstove was outside in a shed built onto the back of the housr. A blower blew the heat from the woodstove through the vents in the house. Ahhh, I wish that's what we were still using. lol

I use propane plan this winter to use electric room heaters from Lowe's in 3 rooms and on cold days heat with wood in the insert that heats the entire house.

the small square 10000 btu kerosene heaters will keep the living room, dining room, kitchen warm
for about $2.00-$5.00 a day or less depending on how warm you like it
the round 20000 btu kerosene heaters figure 2-3 times that ($5-$10 per day) . again depending on how warm you like it. but they are both dangerous
