Wanna buy my ticket to Mogadishu?

Cajahah

The price of oil may have fallen off a cliff recently, but that has not deterred energy giants like Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch Shell, BP and Chevron from reactivating plans to drill in Somalia.

That's the first sentence.

WE're talking about "SOMALIA". Wanna go?

Cajahah

Posted 6:23 pm, 02/10/2016

The main problem would be technology and infrastructure. But if the pay off looked big enough I'm sure a major oil company would pounce. I mean they do drill in the middle of the ocean.

And that's not easy.

Cajahah

Posted 6:21 pm, 02/10/2016

Why not? They are still pumping oil in Iraq.

LoL.

MarieLaveau

Posted 6:21 pm, 02/10/2016

Don't think many oil companies would go there to pump oil, i mean really!

Cajahah

It's directly south of Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

But I'm not implying he went for oil. Just stating the geographical facts.

Hey Marie. Have you ever seen a map?

OIL in SOMALIA? I personally wouldn't think so. It was a humanitarian effort.

Don't forget the war crimes. Why did we wait until the famine was over and moderates were making life better? Why did we intentionally blow up a hospital and civilian gatherings? Why did American soldiers relieve themselves on civilian corpses and force feed children salted pork until the threw up and lock them in containers? Could it be....oil?

HW BUSH deployed the marines for humanitarian aid to a very hostile region. IMO he went to show respect & loyality too all involved. Whether it cost a million or billion dollars, I"m sure the members there appreciated it in a respectful way.Whether afraid or not to be there, they knew HW was there to.

I think what everyone seems to be missing here is this:

George Herbert Walker Bush (that is" Bush, Sr." to the masses) went on a "good will trip" after he had lost the election, and prior to Clinton being sworn in. If Obama does the same thing (after the election, and before whomever wins in November is sworn in), putting himself in harm's way at a time when he PERSONALLY can gain nothing politically in doing so, then I think that the OP would give him plaudits for his actions.

Of course, the left will decry anything that Pubs do, and the right will decry anything that Dems do, so what do I know.

The point wasn't his visit and by the way President Obama has made many international good will trips, the point was someone said we simply would not give him credit for anything. Much like the Republicans on here when it comes to President Obama.

Hangs, would it be more realistic if Bush had just shed a tear for those in Somalia? Tears.....versus.....action......hmmm?

Because the republicans on this site give President Obama for his trips. For some reason every time he does anything good, the republicans on here call him fake. Remember the tears. Couldn't just accept it as tears.

Hello pot meet kettle.

Some of you are such partisan hacks it is sickening. It's sad that you can't see a kind act for what it is and give someone credit for it

Maybe he should have stayed home and played golf and they would think he was great.

Nah, he just stayed on his ranch most of the time and rode his horses.
