Gas Prices

Gardener4Life- I do apologize. I do understand you as well. I try to conserve gas as well. I'll sit in my car without heat and without A/C as much as I can. Lord knows people have to do all they can just to put food on the table and clothes on their back for themselves and their loved ones. This Topic can go in many directions and to alot of different subjects. At least we are all getting our voice heard about things one way or another. It's WHO and WHAT is it going to take to change it all??

This post is about wasting gas and then griping about the price of it. School car lines was an example which is why I said for example. For those of you who could care less about wasting fuel, the rest of us can blame you for the prices because you are obviously much to precious to get hot or cold.

If there wasn't so much bullying going on alot of us would love to see our kids to be able to ride the bus every morning and of a evening. Countless parents go to the school in question about the bullying all during the school year. All you ever hear is "It's been taken care of". But, yet again children again come back home and say it continues.

It's absolutely ridiculous for a child to be at their stop at 5:30 am! I've seen children and spoke to many parents to where their child don't even get home until 5:45 of a evening. By the time they get their homework, eat and shower....it's time for bed! Children need their education but they also need time to experience life outside of school as well.

A point was made if the schools would make the buses safer would bring forth some form of solution. I agree with that. Being up so early to get your child on the bus and then only for them to get home alot later of a evening?

I've seen constant bullying at school and children and parents do all they can to get it to stop and nothing is ever truly done to discipline the ones doing it. The bullies know that they continue doing it and our children suffer academically and in other ways as well.

If there wasn't so much bullying and children didn't spend more time getting to and from school parents wouldn't mind for their children to ride the bus. We have a right to complain about gas prices whether we transport our children to and from school or not. We are all tax paying Americans.

( countrygl4ever OREALLY and daisya37 ) You made good points.

When I have to pick up my child? I turn the car off and I sit there. It's hard to pay gas prices the way they are. I'd rather SAVE my child from more bullying than gas. They are there to learn not to worry themselves "What are they going to say or do when I get on the bus?" They are told to turn it in and they know after a hundred times of doing so, it still continues and it does them no good.

Some children are not in after school activities for some reason or another. And there is always a child sick to a certain extent all the time. Stop the bullying, get better busdrivers, etc. If they can't handle the problems properly, and keep on trying to make a better time to transport students to and from school. Then they need to be excused from their position.

Cars running in school pick up lines I can some what understand but a wc sheriff's car sitting in front of the grocery store running when you arrive and after you've finished shopping and leave I do not understand, bout the same length of time as a school car line if not longer, can't figure that out....tax payer money oh well

Simple solution. Make the buses safer . Most decent parents do not want their children riding buses with sex, drugs and bullying going on. If they didnt have to put them on the bus at 5:30 am and get them off at 5:30 pm not knowing what they will have to endure while there, then they might just let them ride the bus again.

My two cents for what it's worth: I wish the school board would do away with car lines and force the kids to ride the bus! Exceptions being: sickness or after-school activities.

I wait in line for mine for about 15 minutes and if its hot I leave my car running. I am not going to sit in the hot car sweating while I wait. I pay for my gas and I will use it as I please. I don't think it runs out a gallon while I wait and I really don't care if it does. I was parking and walking down to pick up my child but the school informed me they would rather I get in the car line, which I think is crazy. It's a safety issue. I know how to cross in front of cars running 2 miles and hour. As long as I have to sit in the hot sun waiting my car will be running, however I do turn the water off while I brush my teeth, therefore I do save in other ways. lol

I have 4 children and they most definitely are NOT the spawn of the devil. I was making a point about GROWN UPS wasting gas no matter the situation. Vehicles needlessly running when they don't need to be just because someone is too sorry to get out of their vehicle and then think they have the right to gripe about gas prices. They lost the right to complain when they sat in their vehicle with it running just because they wanted to.

Gas is down to $3.79 on Sandy Ridge Rd in K'ville.

And my "daughter" was a foundling someone set out on the side of the road.

My two were adopted from the pound, both are wonderful loving companions.

Gas prices are high...but what gets me is the high prices people pay for pets...hundreds of dollars when there are so many of them at the pound who need loving homes

It's not funny and is a big lack of respect for others to call their kids spawn of satan. It only shows you have a big time lack of compassion for others!!!

So, to get back on track, I agree with the OP. Wasting gas in a car line is a waste as is wasting time.

I've always been amazed by those people who spend all that time in the car lines....they really need to Get A Life! I can't imagine having that much time to waste every day! When I picked up my kids, I just arrived about 5-10 minutes after they dismissed, drove right up and got them....no time wasted.
