The world really does have a problem. In the sense of food, water, and resources, we can support 9-10 billion people. But at our current rate we'll hit 9 billion by 2050, and 10 billion by 2100:

So while these movies are fiction now, at some point we really will have to make a decision. How do we best control the population?

We really should be doing it now, but we won't have a choice but to worry about it within about 30 years.

How do you guys think we should manage the population? We can do like Fortress and limit births to one per family. We can do like The Purge, and just let people go crazy and kill other people at random once a year. Or we can do like The Thinning and start eliminating the less intelligent students, ensuring that only the most intelligent and most likely to contribute to society survive.

Or should we do something else?
