Liberals seem to think that the public schools are better than what can be provided by home schooling, charter schools and church schools. Look at the atmosphere in the public schools. Drugs, assaults, bullying. teachers having relationships with their students is just a few things that students face. You see many of the larger churches building family and educational centers that rival public schools. One of the things I think is detrimental to education these days is the advent of all this testing. My niece told me several days ago that her boy had finished his end of course test at Millers Creek and passed with flying colors. I know it's several more days till schools out. What is he doing for the remainder of his days in school. It looks to me like they would use the whole school year before they give those tests. Think about how much more he could learn.

HILM, with this law , DeVos has insured that your kids have the right to be taught in a sub-par manner. I'm surprised you are not upset by that. There are no checks and balances for religious or charter schools. Your kids could be in the church basement getting taught by someone who cannot read or write well. What kind of future does that mean for your child?

Here it is folks - proof that we can't EVER let liberals run this country again:
"Because everyone is known for making the best decisions for their children."
Liberals believe that the incompetent government employees in some far off government office are better than you in raising your children. It's scary that people actually believe that.

Better yet let me keep more of my money at tax time and I'll pick what's best for my family. I don't need the government telling me how to raise my family.

That is exactly right, Pollock. It is much easier to dominate an uneducated population than one with some savvy. 1.6 million children in poverty kicked out from after school programs that likely feed them and most assuredly keep them safe- all so Donald and Betsy can have more money for for-profit schools to get up and running.
These people claim to care about children- they need to remember "As you do unto the least of these, you do it unto me".
