And who's fault is that? Could it be the politically correct liberals and trial lawyers? If you correct one you have to run a family history, employ a psychologist to determine cause and effect and avoid profiling problem makers. I would lay this at the feet of liberal lawmakers and left wing colleges in their social experiments project called Public School.

Here it is folks - proof that we can't EVER let liberals run this country again:
"Because everyone is known for making the best decisions for their children."

Liberals believe that the incompetent government employees in some far off government office are better than you in raising your children. It's scary that people actually believe that.

Since when are schools responsible for raising children? How many here posting have spent time in classrooms of different grade levels? It's not anything like it was 30 - 40 years ago. In the past almost all children had manners, and behaved fairly well because their parents taught them. It's a different world now.

No one I know would argue against education. Several people would argue the quality of our failing school system. Wilkes County received $35,239,191.00 last year. Where did it go?

For the life of me, I do not understand how anyone could argue against education??

But I've learned to pick my battles on GW because there is a large portion of Republicans on here who would support ANYTHING President Trump proposes. I hope you have the same stubborn attitude if/when he comes for your Social Security checks.

And I simply don't have the time to argue with you today, so we will have to agree to disagree on this subject of educational funding.

Good day to you Ole Sarge

Actually they have received a total of 4.8 Billion. I do not see the results. More money is not the solution to our failing schools.

Ole Sarge, it's my understanding that we were duped on that North Carolina State Lottery deal. I believe the majority of those funds go to road improvements (but it's been a while since I checked.) Typical politician BS in my opinion

Ole Sarge

Have you seen any improvement in the substandard education system since they started getting North Carolina Education Lottery money?

Pollock

HiSAM & Brandon, ideally yes, every parent should be able to educate their own children. But last I checked there seems to be a drug epidemic in Wilkes County and I seriously doubt someone selfish enough to put their needs before their children's needs is the most qualified teacher. It's hard enough to get parents to read to their children, much less be solely responsible for their education.

And I sincerely hope that every male father in Wilkes County is making AT LEAST $50k a year as to provide proper support for a homeschooling family. And all those unwed working mothers who got knocked up by POSs unwilling to step up and be a man and provide for their children, well screw them, they weren't lucky enough to get knocked up by a millionaire, right?! So their children don't deserve a proper education.

Now you may both be from privileged backgrounds (who had a mother to do that for you) but not every child is that lucky. And isn't that the American dream? No matter where you start off in life, you can get a free education and make something of yourself one day!

The way to "Make America Great Again" is not to throw future generations under the bus by cutting funding to impoverished areas thus providing a subpar education!!!

"Because everyone is known for making the best decisions for their children."

HIAM,
You hit the nail on the head. A liberal will always believe the average American is too dumb to make their own decisions, and government is always the answer. Even things such as soda size bans, because "you're too dumb to know soda is bad for you, so we'll make sure you can't buy more than X ounces at a time." When it comes to education, they believe all government are angels and have your best interest. If you talk to a teacher who is out there doing the job they will tell you otherwise. The public system is a mill, get them in get them out.

I like the Dreyfuss Civics Initiative. I did not know that civics was no longer taught in schools. Apparently schools are used for other than reading, writing and arithmetic and learning about our nation's history.
This 'common core' is sewing confusion as well as other things being taught and - our children suffer.

Therefore, this nation's future is in jeapordy.

I hate to admit it but I was a Democrat at one time.

Osmosis

Yeah. My daddy was a southern Democrat. If he could see what the Democrats are today he would get his shotgun out and eliminate most of them.

I beg your pardon Crypt, the republicans are usually the upper class "rich, educated" party. The democratic party has always been known as the poor party, uneducated factory workers. If you go back and listen to American music, artist like Hank Willliams, Alabama, and many artist, even in the songs it's documented over and over again. for instance Alabamas song, " song of the south"

Cotton on roadside, cotton on the ditch
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich
Daddy was a veteren, a southern democrat
They oughta get rich man to vote like that singing

HT- I've not talked to my niece since the other day. When these kids pass their test 3 weeks before schools out what do they do for the remainder of the year? Are they through for the year? Why not cover another chapter or two and then test them?

Crypt

Posted 9:42 pm, 05/18/2017

The republicans tried gerrymandering and now uneducation. I guess we'll see. I've noticed most Trumpkins don't even know the difference between no and know. Didn't we learn that in second grade?

OS, if you are serious about Make America Smart Again, then you need to pay attention to what is going on in public education. DeVos is doing her best to ensure that only certain people get a solid education.

Osm, if the testing bothers you, you are not alone! Talk to our Representative Jeffrey Elmore, who is a teacher. Teachers do not care for this testing either. It Really stresses the kids out and does not truly show what they have learned or are capable of doing.

We have had substandard education for at least 50 years. For checks and balances they use an old process called termination. Something the failing tenured tax leeches no nothing about. Sending young skulls full of mush to a sub-culture university that can't get past the 60's to listen to liberal indoctrination and psychobabble has choked the government schools. It is time for change. Make American Smart Again
