The results of the test of the heavily advertised EdenPure were not promising. The $400 EdenPure ended up at the bottom of the ratings. It was the worst performing of 20 space heaters tested. (see their suggestions at bottom of this post) http://www.wcpo.com/content...
The shocking surprise: the portable heater gave all the benefits short one, I couldn't back up their claims of energy cost savings. In fact, my electricity bill went up 15% from the previous year, even though we are having a mild winter in South Carolina in January of 2008. I can in no way support that this unit will pay for itself in one season. http://glenwoodfincafe.blog...
Top Performing Heaters
Top rated: The Honeywell Electric heater HZ-519, for just $60. (It's sold by Home Depot and Amazon.com, among other stores, but it may be in short supply, due to Consumer Reports' review. Honeywell makes some similar models wtihout the digital display that you may want to consider.) Also highly rated: The Holmes Quartz Tower, $60....and the DeLonghi SafeHeat Flat Panel, $80. http://www.wcpo.com/content...

Whatever you think you want to do contact the EnergeUnited folks. They will tell you the square on electric usage and safety on any appliance. These folks are us and they always have treated us like family. They are very responsive to folks in our area.

mountaingirl, these heaters are not any better than the quartz heaters you can buy at Walmart for $70.00. They don't amplify. If 1500 watts go in you get that much heat. The savings they claim is because you are not heating the whole house. The $300 you save at Walmart will buy a lot of electricity. Hope this helps.

They have practically the same thing at Lowes and a lot cheaper.

lol...did you get the flyer, too? In the mail, I mean?
I think they look good, but I just spent uber thousands on a "state of the art" Trane heat pump (which still freezes me lol), so I don't know...I'd like to know as well.

Has anyone on here ever bought one of these type heaters? They are supposed to be safe and put out good heat without running up your electric bill so high. With kerosene prices so high we are looking into alternative sources of heat other than our kerosene heater.
