Let me know when it gets to $1.75 again, I'll cheer with you
The last time it was $1.75 was 2008...
Inflation adjusted, $1.75 in 2008 is equivalent to $2.50 in 2023.
It did hit $1.87 during the pandemic, of course... when no one was driving, so there was no demand. The first quarantine began in March 2020, and you can see that gas prices started to go down at that point. And, of course, when the quarantine was lifted, the oil companies made up for lost time by jacking up prices.
FWIW, the Biden administration proposed several bills that would let the President declare a national state of emergency, which would give him the ability to force them to stop price gouging. Republicans repeatedly voted the bills down.

I will only buy my gas at Sheetz. At Sheetz their regular gas is now $ 2.99. If these other stations can match Sheetz price at $ 2.99, they could have done it before Sheetz got here. They were just gluttons for a hgher price. Plus with a Sheetz card, you can get 3 cents off per gallon. Anybody that has a 2001 car or newer can use the 88 octane and save even more. I have used that 88 octane for many years and it has worked fine in my car.

All things considered, gas is remarkably cheap in Wilkes. It was $2.93 in July, and it's $2.99 now.

On 421 gas is under $3.00. I think this is thanks to the new Sheetz.
