Christmas reminder....

i always encourage pictures. frames can be inexpensive as well as photos.

i have a couple of family members that moved to north carolina in the past year. most of their close family, siblings and parents, are far away. i think they are going to put together "a year in my life" type scrapbook to let everyone what they have been doing

i put together some homemade baskets one year and they were truly liked. i baked some cookies and made candies. bought a case of wine and put a bottle in each basket. i think i even added a family photo

i do a lot of things with my hands. in years past i have knitted socks and scarves for people. i can buy them cheaper but people really do like handmade socks.

i have someone in my life that has worked construction for decades. on major projects they always give out teeshirts. well over the years those teeshirts add up. last year i took all those teeshirts and made a small quilt out of them. it turned out great

i try to give people my time, not money when it comes to gifts.

Wish I knew people that I could send the "merry Tattoo" or "happy hairdo" to goddess, I might enclose a dollar or two to help them out a little.

Thanks Elmo and everyone , my problem is not knowing what gifts to buy the people on my list, so I procrastinate.

Tell me what small gifts you all like to receive , for ideas.

then all you need to do is send them a card that says...

Merry Tattoo or Happy Hairdo!!!

that fixes that dilemma for you dec...

i didn't think to post this days ago.

yankee candle is offering $20 off on a $45 purchase plus free shipping. the sale ends today. go to their website

candles might be low priority for some people, but i use them year round so this is a good sale for me.

I did my Christmas Shopping back in July. I bought 6 jars of Sour Wood Honey for gifts.

i took on a challenge this year to knit sweaters. i have been knitting since february and am not quite finished. i have had a goal of 1 sweater per month. i am about sick to death of knitting right now.

I LOVE Christmas, but I hate those Christmas countdowns, lol. For some reason, no matter how "ready" I am they make me panic! I think I have a countdown phobia :)

i thought i would remind people once again that the holiday is coming. the date hasn't changed.

this week i bought a couple of turkey breasts at Lowes. they were a bogo. i will be having one for thanksgiving along with a ham, and saving the other for another time. the turkey will only be on sale thru tomorrow

start looking for the deals now folks. low temps mean your heating bill is going to go up. christmas is on a thursday this year. if you live from paycheck to paycheck and your not paid until friday ... you will not be able to count on that last paycheck.

Note from GoNC: I merged two threads, and removed a portion of this post that was in reference to the multiple threads.

I've already gotten Christmas out of the way. My husband and I are retired and living on social security, so I buy, when on sale, year round. We have 2 kids under the ages of 11, these 2 get 1 major gift with a price limit and smaller items, which usually include school supplies for last part of the year. The older kids, I do baskets with fruit and baked goods and homemade candies. I refuse to wait till last minute. Now if the grocery stores would go ahead and put turkeys on sale..

This beggin' crap is hard. Maybe I'll have to save up and buy my own party supplies. Sigh.

Hopefully the reminder will help. These people don't think about Christmas when they are blowing their tax refunds or going to the beach in the summer but at christmas time they magically can't get the money up for gifts.

Most of the decoration i got for the girls party is also homemade or rather dollar store bargains that are home altered. Like zebra stripes drawn with a Sharpie on white balloons and margarita glasses. Its amazing what one can do with a little creativity.

Sure. Not exactly what I had in mind, but it's progress anyway. I'm drawing the line at prune juice, though.

Does Ensure count as an adult beverage?!!

Heck no! When I beg, I am not choosy! Zebra decorations are fabulous...used makes them even better. Someone still needs to donate the adult beverages. Have a heart, people.
