There is also an issue with some people on setting priorities. Feeding your family should come before cable TV and a new car.

Kenny Beck from WXII news Chanel 12 held a forum on food needs in Nortwest NC Tuesday evening @ Wilkes Community College.I think he said 13.8% of residents of Wilkes county have a need for food daily. In the eastern part of NC as much as 25% of the folks have a shortage of edible food. There are several organizations in Wilkes that help with food needs,Samitaritans Kitchen,Hope Ministries and several of the local churches have food closets at their facilities. There are even some local food boxes Thruout the county where folks can get food.It is hard to believe that in 2019 there is so much need in Rural NC.

I have worked for less in days gone by. There is no shame in working for a living. If you make $10 per hour and someone else is sitting at home to sorry to work, you are richer than they are. There are lots of people right here in Wilkes County that work for less than $10 per hour that can hold their heads up and feel good about themselves. They certainly do not want someone like you looking down your self-righteous nose at them

If you could see hard working people as something besides ignorant deplorables perhaps you could make some friends and not have to spend all your time on a website trying to appear as something you are not.

Foxnews thinks that a $10/hour job means that you're rich.

I have a serious question for all the gowilkes people out there. I'm not looking for political name calling just serious answers. While in church Sunday we were given some statistics for the Hope Ministries and a couple other charities here in Wilkes. The numbers were staggering as the amount of money and the quantity of food were read. I don't understand and so maybe you guys can help me. If the economy is the best in 40 years and unemployment is at an all time low and everyone that wants a job can have one, why is the need so plentiful? Why are so many needing financial help and even help with food? I really don't understand and like I say please no name calling just looking to understand the economics of all this.

There is your answer right there in your own post

Your question can only be answered by resorting to name calling and mud slinging.

Sorry.
