NZ was very strict and today they've said the last person reported has now recovered.
Heck we can't even see the light at the end of the tunnel. All those protesters that wanted the state open, I hope you are thrilled.
I'm no longer travelling to Wilkes to see my family. It is just video chat. Tourist surround me and refuse to wear masks. I go out early in the mornings for my run and now just having everything delivered.
I've thought about renting my place out and living somewhere else until after the summer. Luckily I can work from anywhere. I'm checking out different rental possibilities and the cost of deep cleaning after each renter leaves.

Y'all remember when Boone council members said no one from Wilkes was welcome?According to HC Press there could be a Coverup of cases in Boone NC @ App State construction site.Choate construction is the General construction company. One day last week of the 274 employees for the work site only 6 workers were able to work because of the covid19 sickness.Do the local government need to enact a law forbidding Boone residents to stay out?

Everybody seems to have forgotten about COVID, people everywhere are going about like normal! Most people aren't wearing masks, and I see very few people trying to social-distance.
But Friday, the state had a record number of new cases (more than 1,200), and Saturday was another record (1,300 new cases).
People seem to have forgotten that it all started with ONE person in January, by March there were 160,000 infections, and by June there were almost 2 million.
We go back to normal too early, and all it takes is 1 person to start it all over.

If anyone else is keeping up with Nick Cordero, it sounds like he might be near the end
Cordero was a healthy 41 year old Tony-nominated Broadway performer with an 11 month old son that became infected with COVID in March. His lungs were severely damaged "like he's been a smoker for 50 years," and there were "holes in his lungs."
In April the doctors had to amputate one of his legs due to a COVID complication, he was given a pacemaker, and then he was in a coma for a month. He came out of the coma about 2 weeks ago, only to develop another lung infection.

North Carolina second grader dies from coronavirus , marking state's first reported child fatality
A North Carolina second grader has died after a weeklong fight with coronavirus, marking the state's first reported child fatality in the pandemic, according to NBC affiliate WRAL. The television station reported Aurea Soto Morales, who was a student at Creekside Elementary School in Durham, died Monday after she was hospitalized at UNC Medical Center for complications from COVID-19. Morales started feeling sick last Thursday, May 28. She was tested for COVID-19. Later, she had a seizure and was rushed to the hospital. Family members said she experienced swelling in her brain. She eventually went into a coma and passed away. https://www.wxii12.com/arti...y/32761604

April 20 - April 26: 18 Total, 17 new since March 30
April 27 - May 3: 127 Total, 109 new
May 4 - May 10: 242 Total, 115 new
May 11 - May 17: 419 Total, 177 new
May 18 - May 24: 473 Total, 54 new
May 25 - May 31: 492 Total, 19 new
So the rate of growth appears to be slowing, maybe the rules of wearing a mask and distancing, along with excessive cleaning, are working? Although the numbers from Tyson never showed up so it feels misleading.
And with 200 people at the protest over the weekend, we'll find out in 2 weeks if any of those people were contagious.

They have moved the goal posts, increasing the number of days defining recovery from fourteen to twenty eight thereby widening the gap between infected and recovered.

As of 2:35 PM on 6/2/2020 500 Confirmed Cases 434 Recovered* 6 Confirmed Deaths 30 Confirmed Hospitalizations- 6 currently hospitalized
*Wilkes Health has updated their definition of recovered to reflect recommendations from NCDHHS and the CDC. North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) estimates an average recovery of 14 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19, and were not hospitalized. However the estimated recovery is 28 days from the date that someone was tested for COVID-19 and was hospitalized*
Unfortunately, Wilkes Health is not able to provide a number of residents tested or negative test results. This is due to private practices, hospitals, long term care facilities, and some being tested outside the county. We understand that this frustrating, but only positive results and deaths are required by law to be reported to the health department. For the most up-to-date information for the state, please click here.
Please see below for demographic related information for 500 COVID-19 laboratory confirmed cases.
Information labeled unknown means Wilkes Health does not have access to that information.
