No, it does not have to be disclosed...but if you know about the disease or condition prior...(it might be a good idea that you do disclose it..to cover your but)t....the purchaser and or agent would have to have prior knowledge and ask the re agent if the previous owner was indeed infected with the aids virus. Albeit, they are not protected from being sued.

considering this discussion is about suicide...I would believe that the same holds true here as with AIDS. That being said....how does illness of any kind effect the price of a property...hey, did you know that joe blow from kokomo committed suicide here....does the appraisor of said property take off $100's or maybe $1000's or $10,000 dollars of purchase price of the property...I think not. Next question would be...how many agents actually ask their prospective sellars...hey you got AIDS..or does a member of your family have AIDS or are they contemplating suicide...

Bottom line is it's is really to bad that NC real estate law doesn't protect the agent or broker in this.

We looked at a house in Crestview Estates, near Canterbury in Millers Creek. Found out a man hung himself in the bonus room over the garage. Changed our minds real quick about the house. The house was only about 9 years old and already had something like 6 owners. Wonder why?

I don't tend to be a fearful person when it comes to ghostly experiences or things like that BUT at the same time I'm not sure if I would buy a house where a bloody murder or suicide took place. Death is a natural part of life but there is something unnatural about someone's life ending suddenly by their own hand or someone else's. There is a rental house/apartment in Hickory where several people(including a four year old boy) were savagely murdered a year or two ago -- the murderer managed to flee and then die on the road out west somewhere. It was a terrible event and I do not think I could live in that place in peace.

We rented a home a few years back that a man murdered his wife in. We didnt know it untill moving our things in. We just tried not to think about it. The woman was shot at the back door which was right next to my bedroom door and sometimes at night I thought I would hear something around the back door but my husband said it was all in my head. Other than that we didnt have any problems.

goddess, NC Law states that you have to have a Disclosure statement before closing or you can back out. If you were not told something then you would have recourse in court should it effect the price or condition of your property. I would think someone committing suicide in the home "might" effect the real price for some people.

I hope the real estate agent didn't tell you someone committed suicide in the house...that's a big no no...

think of it like this...what's the difference in this or knowing someone in the home died of cancer, aids or heart failure...which is more than likely the case with every other home across the nation..that you maybe looking at...death is death...it has nothing to do with the building in which it took place in.

If I was scared of death I`d go to looking for the LIGHT!!!!

Go with your feelings if you have a problem with the death in the home then don't do it.

If the price is right, what difference does it make?
