The tide is coming in

Truthseeker911

Again I have to ask, who is it acceptable too? The ones doing it? That's like someone reading all of the racism and bigotry expressed on GW and saying its acceptable. It's only acceptable to those who think like that.

Wow, I've explained plenty of proof to a double standard and you want to ignore it

Elmo Cleghorn

my final word,.. i totally disagree that there is any double standard on this issue. none. nada. does not exist.

when i see you post a disagreement when you see a woman diminished or degraded on this site, i will know you are sincere in your belief. until then, poke fun and make as many jokes about others as you please and expect the same in return without ever taking offense

i wish you a great evening Basking

That still doesn't solve the accepted double standard they is teaching boys they are substandard to girls

Elmo Cleghorn

well i hope so chendo. i think we should be made to feel the best of what we are

Elmo Cleghorn

so make your jokes ... and then don't be offended when you hear some woman laughing at you .... she probably feels everything is fair game just like you do. although you wouldn't know for sure, maybe that same woman hates other races, religions, and even hair color and makes fun of those as well

Basking

Posted 7:01 pm, 04/25/2015

As an adult, I don't care. Personally, I rather it be that all gender, race, religion, sexuality, and hair color be fair game when it comes to a good joke. But given the current double standard, I am concerned it's affecting boys similarly to the way girls were affected in the 50's and before when they were told they were only good for cooking cleaning and popping out babies

oops sorry about that, i hit the reply button instead of cancel. i decided i didn't want to say what i was going to

It's become hugely acceptable to tear down masculinity from all directions.

but to restate ... your comment above .... welcome to a woman's world .... suck it up.

It doesn't go both ways. If I had turned around and looked at the girl and joked, yeah, men are dumb, but we still rule the world, so stay skinny so some man will want you, what would the reaction have been? Her mom wouldn't have laughed it off like she did when she got the guy to back up her insult to men. It's become hugely acceptable to tear down masculinity from all directions. To the point that men even go along with it.

That's not "it goes both ways". And Hesbelah, you clearly can't dispute what I said. You can only get angry because you see it as a result of threat. But that's your own insecurities speaking out

ya know, i just don't even want to fight this fight with you. its called circle dancing and i find it distasteful

its not a double standard. i see it happening on both sides all the time.

because i, my children, and other children are exposed to it .... doesn't make them participate in it. i see bigotry all the time. that doesn't make me a bigot. i hear of thieving all the time, that does not make me a thief.

because SOME (whether male or female) diminishes the other, that does not mean that ALL are doing it.

your gripe started with the offense of women demasculating men. sure it happens. no its not right. but don't be so offended when you feel insulted it you stand by and do nothing while a woman is insulted.

Basking

An accepted double standard clearly proves your idea that it goes both ways as wrong. And while those women you know may not personally take part in actively emasculating men, them and their children are being exposed to the idea every day. And I doubt those women you know are doing anything to counter the information their kids are being subjected to.

Also, the whole idea that some have suggested that it's ok because men were doing it first is just shameful. You don't fix a problem by inserting another problem.

Elmo, I can prove you wrong with a simple example. It's perfectly acceptable now for women to tell little boys that cats are smarter than they are. But if a man made a similar joke suggesting girls aren't very smart, people would jump all over him. Often this damage can really be seen in boys of divorced families.

I used 30 years as a reference point because that's my rough estimation of where this really started showing up in television and movies. It could be narrowed down more specifically.

actually i don't agree that you have proven anything, but if what you post satisfies you ... who am i to disagree?

i know tons and tons of women that do not bash, belittle, or poke fun at men. they do not encourage or condone their sons or daughters to do it either. generally those women spend their time in the company of men who show equal respect ... and neither one feels less than the other.

Some of you just don't get it. You pick, pick, pick and twist everything I say. Truth is I could care less if you agree with me or not, I know in my heart what is right and that is all that matters. No one needs your approval, especially me.

Empowers makes me very sad, because I know people exactly like this. I know a girl whose mother felt exactly like empowers. My friend was beaten by her brother regularly, and her mother blamed it on her for making him so angry. She was raped by a man when she was 17, and her mother said that it was her fault for teasing him.

This led to her marrying an abusive man, and she doesn't even see it. In her mind, it's perfectly fine for him to punish her (sometimes physically) when she has an attitude.

The worst part is that she has children, and they'll grow up with this same mentality.
