Wonder how much of the increase is attributable to births and overstays?

Births wouldn't count, because if a baby is born here then it is a citizen. But as I was saying earlier, overstays are the majority of illegal immigrants... which is why I have argued since the beginning that this whole "border control" push is a waste of money that does little more than pander to people that aren't paying attention.

I also noticed that the increase is an estimate, so there could be a much lower increase.

Of course, I don't know of any way that anyone could get a real number. It's not like a government employee could go around and ask everyone if they're legal, and then expect an honest answer.

But that's why I chose FAIR as a source; they're a heavily biased Conservative group, so I would imagine that if their numbers are skewed then it would be Trump's benefit.

When we get the boarder under control then we can concentrate on the interior, those illegals already here and those that got here legally and overstayed their visas.

I think you'll appreciate this, Cowboy... total apprehension going back to 2000:

What we don't know is whether the sharp jump in apprehensions is because there are more immigrants coming over now, or if it's the same number and they're just being caught now.

But my question is, why can't the Trump administration control the border AND deport violent illegal immigrants? That's what Obama was doing, and doing well.

BTW, skeptic, I don't know your source, but you said:

Second, detention facilities that once had five times more illegal immigrants in custody than beds available are now well below capacity. That's good news for American citizens, legal immigrants, victims of human smuggling, and our law enforcement officers.

I think that may be because Trump built a ton more detention centers. Because looking at it over time, we've had a record high daily population of detained immigrants with Trump:

If Trump claimed that he just went and played golf on the moon his supporters would believe it, and brag about it.

Down from when? I think that is an important point.

Anti,
I don't care whose opinion it is, fewer illegals coming in will result in fewer deportations. When we get the boarder under control then we can concentrate on the interior, those illegals already here and those that got here legally and overstayed their visas.

Cowboy, don't argue with Anti. These are just estimated facts, right Anti

I'm not giving you opinions, I'm showing you documented facts. FAIR (a strongly right-biased organization) estimated that the number of illegal immigrants in the US has grown from 12.5 million in 2017 (when Trump took office) to 14.3 million now:

So Trump deported 827,000 over 3 years, but the number still increased by 2.8 million.

What that proves is that increased border patrol had little to no impact. As has been proven before, about half of the illegal immigrants come here legally, and then simply let their visa expire (estimated to be more than half now):

Anti,
You seriously believe that the fact that there fewer illegals making it into the interior of the country has no bearing on the fact that there are fewer deportations. You can't argue with logic like yours.

Not at all. The list didn't include immigrants deported from the border, only those that were "rounded up."

And since Trump has a "deport them all" policy, it stands to reason that a lower proportion of those being deported are violent or drug related.

The biggest handicap for Trump has actually been sanctuary cities. They worked well with Obama because they had no problem with deporting violent criminals, but with Trump's "deport them all" policy they are much less inclined to report someone to ICE over a speeding ticket:

So you can clearly see, it's not a lack of desire on Trump's part, and it's not a lack of people to deport. It's that his policies have failed to gain the results that he wanted.

Anti,
Doesn't less illegals coming into the US mean there will be less illegals deported?

Obama deported an average of 383,307 illegal immigrants each year, while Trump has deported an average of 275,725:

Obama was by far the toughest President on illegal immigrants in history.

Obama's policy was also more logical... deport with a vengeance if they commit a violent or drug related crime.

With a surplus of 8 million jobs, mostly low value jobs in construction and home health care, why are we deporting good people (those that haven't committed any violent or drug related crimes) that would take these jobs that we obviously don't want?

Detention facilities are below capacity.

There are a lot of statistics Mark A. Morgan, acting U.S. Customs and Border Protection commissioner, uses to show how Trump policies have helped to cut illegal immigration into the United States"-but there are two that he thinks really make that accomplishment clear, Paul Bedard reports for the Washington Examiner.

"First is daily apprehensions, a number that hit 4,600 at the height of the latest crisis in May. That has now dropped to 1,300. What's more, he said, the 21-daily average is below 1,000, a 78% cut."

Second, detention facilities that once had five times more illegal immigrants in custody than beds available are now well below capacity. That's good news for American citizens, legal immigrants, victims of human smuggling, and our law enforcement officers.
