An arrest and charges were made this week stemming from an investigation dating back to November of last year. On November 7, Wilkesboro Police served a search warrant at an Industrial Drive location following information they received concerning drug activity. During the course of the investigation and pursuant to the warrant, various items were seized and entered into the Wilkesboro Police evidence system including 8 pounds of marijuana valued at 10,000 dollars, drug paraphernalia, a shotgun, and cell phone. Based upon information obtained at the first location, additional search warrants were issued and the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office was asked to assist as two of the locations were outside the city limits of Wilkesboro. After getting results back from the SBI Lab and consulting with the DA's Office, warrants were secured for Mr. Nell Cashion age 65 of Wilkesboro. Cashion turned himself in and met with Police at the Wilkes County Courthouse. He was charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver, felony manufacture of marijuana, and 2 felony counts of maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. Cashion's bond was set at 15,000 dollars and his next court date is March 20 in Wilkes District Court.

This is such crap there was a big bust a few months back in a different county it was like 3 or 4 pounds it had over a million dollar street value and 8 pounds only has 10,000 this county needs to be flipped on its head and all of this counties men and women in office need to be investigated this happened in November not one word on the news or anything COVER UP big time!!!!!! I bet he his sorry tail dont pull one day in prison!!! This county is a big joke as far as it officials are concerned!!! If it was anybody else it would be all over everything!!

You know what I like about the internet? People can't keep secrets. Even when a whole town trys to protect criminals it still comes out no matter how much they bad mouth the messenger.

i wonder how many of the idiots worried about other peoples business have family members that are crackheads, pillheads or methheads?statistics would say at least 3 out of 4.so maybe you should spend your time with your daughter, son, wife or husband and get them off the hard sh#t and then worry about someone you know nothing about and 8 lbs of ****y weed.

UMMM, NO. I DON'T KNOW ANYONE ON ANY OF THE ABOVE. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT YOU IS WHAT YOU HAVE AGAINST TAKING THIS **** OFF THE STREETS. THE MORE SCUMBAGS THEY GET THE MORE OF THIS WON'T BE MAKING IT INTO THE HANDS OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS AND LOVED ONES. HOW CAN YOU DEFEND THAT?

Murder? Maybe someone should look into something that happened in a Stateville parking lot around 1996. I heard it was a drug deal gone bad. Something that involved people from Raleigh and Wilkes.

Neil was charged with possessing 8 lbs of pot and less than a gallon of shine No charges involved the kind of "drugs" available or issued through the hospital or pharmacies. Before it's over, many on Gowilkes will have him charged with every imaginable drug, murder, etc., etc. Why not let the legal process run its course before assuming what is (and isnt) actually involved?

Also do you really believe Neil Cashion, X Mayor, X state Sentor, Member of the Board of Directors of WMC was dealing pot out of a rented shed and only 8 lbs of pot at that? So what was he doing there? DEA was going to make a raid in Wilkes. They have to check in with the local police before they actually do the raid. Local then gets on the phone and tells Neil about the raid. Neil goes to the storage shed and trys to get the drugs out before the raid happens. He is a little slow and get caught before it is completely clear.

Am I the only one that finds it interesting that Neil Cashion is on the board of directors of our hospital? Neil- drugs- hospital: see the connection?

You wouldn't realize how much effort it has taken to get this one guy. Neil and his family are very important people around this area. It has taken years of effort to tare down his support to get to him. Now if the feds don't drop the ball some progress might be made to get illegal drugs out of Wilkes. For instance, look at the people on the board of our local hospital. You will find Neil's name on that list.

If you are truly "seeking the truth", I wouldn't place too much emphasis or credence into what you read on Gowilkes. There are Far too many personal agendas involved here that forms and often clouds people's point of view.

It sounds like Wilkes may be featured on an upcoming episode of City Confidential, or Discovery I.D. ! I just left a place that was featured on Dr. Phil the other day, with the cash fiends murders. I know what you mean about it being every where.

Sameosameo

Posted 10:55 am, 01/27/2013

Not an easy way. It would cost a lot of money and they don't conceder it a big enought problem. Besides its not just here, its every where. It would take a grass roots effort to get those people involved. We try.

I have not been here long enough to know anything about the corruption of local government here, but some of you seem to know. My question is, if its as blatantly corrupt as you say, isn't there a way to bring in the FBI to investigate the judicial system and public officials?

Sameosameo

Yes, but is it only 8 lbs of weed? Is it only one person involved? Maybe this one person is the tip of a very big iceburg. I would bet a $100.00 to a dime stuff had been moved from that storage place because of a tip. If I was an investigator I would look at Neil's incomming phone calls just prior to the raid. That might just be very interesting who he recieved calls from.
