Often instructors disallow certain topics because they have strong feelings about those topics them selves and do not want anything to interfere with their grading. So just pick another topic its actually for your own benefit that the instructor will not allow papers they might be partial on one way or another.

pixel, i never once said anything negative about my topic bein unnaccepted, and i never once said anything about not doing the essay. i'm just looking for some good topics to write on.

if your goal is to get through the class with a good grade, then win your instructor over with an unexpected topic and win him to your side, don't pick unnecessary fights with instructors it just makes school that much harder and unpleasant....find a topic unexpected

Well sweetheart you're in the big leagues now, so you're gonna have to play by other people's rules once in a while.

Honestly, I don't care what topics the instructor will not accept, as it is his class and should be allowed to set the guidelines for the class.

Don't like it? Drop and hope you get another instructor next time, or simply suck it up and pick another topic.

You can't honestly have an opinion on only one topic, so spin the wheel, pick it out of a hat or let these helpful folks on GW vote on it for you.

Either way... just do it.

i wanted to write my essay on abortion and he turned it down. he said that he has never and will never allow a paper to be written on this topic. i don't know why, thats all he said. first time i have ever encountered an instructor against something a student wants to write on. kinda made me mad, i already had my ideas planned out. and an argumentative essay is kind of like a persuasive essay, you are stating your opinion on a topic.

almost any subject on gowilkes today: gay neighbors and are they barred from heaven- neighbors who spy and cheat on their spouses- people who can't drive- not tipping when you get mad at the food,cell phones paid for by our tax dollars --- pick one and good luck.

There is always the tried and true. Second amendment causes/Gun control. Or gay marraige. Or you can go more current such as government fiscal responsibilty, bailouts, national healthcare, welfare, water boarding, extraordinary rendition, Darfur, etc. Does it really matter what you right about? you instuctor just wants to see how well you can organize an argument. The topic dosn't really matter. Having said that, I find it interesting that he turned a topic down. What was it?
