I think all of us on GW should honor Gary. Let's plan on it this week.

I've seen millionaires request acts of kindness to be passed on bob....there is no shame in what your thread represents.....and you knew you would be made fun of but you chose to do it anyway......thats called being strong.

Does anyone know of any professional mourners? I might consider that.

Great post bobster. Flowers are beautiful yet pricey which doesn't matter. If'in someone request donations to some charity or foundation that is great, if it goes to that requested for. Yet cut flowers last only a few days unless it is a live potted plant. In saying, it can be taken home by family & maybe out live them but can be viewed as a memory of a loved one. Seen it many times visitation at a Funeral Home, most are looking at who bought this & who bought dat with no regards to deceased or family until they've checked out all the flowers... Sad..

When I am dead, I want the flowers. Screw acts of kindness on my behalf. I want tons of fresh flowers over my casket that will compost my grave. Just sayin'

At the same time, that’s kind of mean to the florist that’s just trying to make a living

Yesterday I was listening to the local obits and someone named "Gary" was among those. His family requested in lieu of flowers an act of kindness was shown to someone, in need, in Gary's name. What a great thing to do.
