Hmmm, I guess since we've changed topics, it means I've proven my point...

For something to be legalized, it must first have a law passed to make it illegal. What some don't realize is that abortion has been around for centuries. Actually millennia. There is documented evidence that the ancient Egyptians practiced it. In the 17th, 18th, and up till the mid19th centuries the common philosophy was it was ok to perform up until the mother could feel movement. But starting around mid to late 1800's doctors started pushing for making it illegal for anyone not trained as a doctor to practice medicine. And one of the things they went after was midwives performing abortions. Around 1880 the American Medical Association was formed and they started a major push to get states to restrict the performance of abortions. Also, anti immigrant groups fought to ban abortions out of fear that immigrant births would out number native offspring. By 1973, the laws on abortion varied widely from state to state. But the key is that all of these laws were passed at the state levels. There was never a federal ban on abortions. Therefore, there was never a federal bill signed into law to legalize abortion. That act happened by the USSC in a ruling against the ban in the state of Texas.

So? Both the GOP and the Democrats supported abortion. Now the GOP is pretending it was all the democrats. Just research abortion and birth control and you might be surprised. Both were pushed by the right to control the population of minorities.

It is a shame to be honest, when someone starts another thread in which that one person has had their arse handed to the in the past with facts. Springy you need to comprehend what Fins has told you in the past.

Ain't it a shame that some people don't know what they are talking about? The abortion bill was passed and signed by a GOP President and the Supreme Court up halted it, foolish person.

Abortion in the United States is legal via the landmark 1973 case of Roe v. Wade. Specifically, abortion is legal in all U.S. states, and every state has at least one abortion clinic.[1][2] However, individual states can regulate/limit the use of abortion or create "trigger laws", which would make abortion illegal within the first and second trimesters if Roe were overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States[3][4][5] Also, nine states-Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, West Virginiaand Wisconsin still have their unenforced pre-Roe abortion bans on the lawbooks, which could start being enforced if Roe were overturned.[4] In accordance with the US Supreme Court case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992), states cannot place legal restrictions posing an undue burden for "the purpose or effect of placing a substantial obstacle in the path of a woman seeking an abortion of a nonviable fetus."[6]
