Back when i was a kid i would eat A-1 on everything...steak, burgers,pork,potato's,beans anything. I once drank a bottle for a $20.00 bill.

I think A1 enhances a great steak. My husband makes the BEST grilled Tbone, ever.

If you have to have either one some one does not know how to cook a steak.

Least what Leroy says

TDTMD.....you dumped him the next day right? Y'all prob would've had a similar reaction if I'd been there and asked for A1 but I wouldn't have.... I would've had more sense than that....I would've enjoyed my rib eye and secretly desired a small dab of a1 on the side....when I say small amt....I mean like maybe a half of a teaspoon is adequate for an entire ribeye

I've never tried Heinz 57 on my country style steak (bologna), but I bet it would bring out the best in a big slice.

Ketchup.....now that's just un-american

LearnToFly,,, That reminds me. I was dating a guy once and he'd come over for supper at my parent's house. My daddy had fixed steaks. We all sat down to eat and my date asked for ketchup !!! Everyone practically dropped their forks and knives and stared at him ....lol. I told him that we didn't put ketchup on delectably cooked ribeyes!!

Come to think of it.....everything I cook is really spicy and marinated to hello and back so I guess that's supports my lack of taste buds. I also love salt and pepper on everything.

I figured I would be in the minority on this one.....I don't feel a1 is a cover up but a nice complement if used in moderation....then maybe my taste buds aren't as sensitive as some....or maybe i killed the good ones with alcohol, cigarettes and other excesses.

I was always taught that it was rude to use a-1 steak sauce if the meat was already marinated. If it was marinated and cooked properly, a-1 isn't needed. If you're eating an acquaintances steak that's certainly a no no!

We can do the over rated Geno's or Pat's but I know a place on South street that beats them hands down

Chendo, I feel more cultured just reading your post. Can't wait to try that maitre'd butter on a porterhouse.

57 is the bomb if you use it to marinate, then grill chicken.

If a steak is good you don't need anything to cover it up.
