redfly, the thing about pot is, it stays in a user's system for up to 30 days. People that use it have a harder time finding a job because they fail drug tests. Which leads them to use other drugs that will exit their systems in a few days. Except those other drugs and pills are far more detrimental to their health, and, highly addictive, which pot ain't. So I have to say I agree with Jude and others who say legalizing pot has the potential to greatly reduce the number of addicts and so, reduce crime. Pot just doesn't make people behave like these other harder drugs and pills do. Heck, I'd rather see pot legal and alcohol illegal. But, we all know how well that attempt went over!

You are right Zappos. So, if he doesn't work and is buying drugs, where does the money come from?

Maybe from his parents salary that we are helping to pay by supporting their charity?

I would think a surgeon would be more inclined to be an alcoholic or......

a addict to prescription drugs, how silly to think they could have such easy access as writing their own scripts (very illegal)
or have a colleague just helping them out, after all they are very well educated paid big bucks for their skills, and well, (now keep in mind some of them didn't attend Harvard, or belong to the 4.0 club, some of them partied hard in college and barely made the grade) so are we suppose to just say they made a mistake. We don't see alot of them going to jail now do we. But, meh....
Go take a risk and get on a plane with a flying drunken alcoholic, who drags down 100 grand a year, and has a few hundred of peoples lives in their hands.
All this silly non sense of what to do with people who since the beginning of time have wanted to alter their consciousness one way or another.
To balance the evils, legalize marijuana, like alcohol.
For medical and personal use. By the way I don't recall the surgeon general saying that alcohol was good for your health in extremely large doses daily.
This is a different world today and its not holding up to the bs standards of the 50's and 60's fantasy of reality.
SMH......

I'm sure surgeons smoke pot on their own time, not while holding someones life in their hands. It's called responsibility. Do you think people smoke regardless of it being legal or not?

Alcohol is far more dangerous and harmful than reefer, that's a fact. It's also more readily availible....

If you want to use marijuana legally, move to a state that has legalized it. You may want to do the research to see that those states still have high rates of crime, deaths from overdoses, lots of addiction issues, etc. Oh, for those of you that think smoking marijuana is harmless, would you want a surgeon performing surgery on you or a family member after he/she has been smoking? I would hope not. Grow up people.
