EW non conference schedule is a joke. East would have been absolutely dismantled by that Patton team as well.

I agree some. But at some point and time you have to look at scores. As athletic as WC claims to be you have to wonder how Alleghany hung around. For the record EW is every bit as athletic as WC. Parsons is fast. Boles is fast as well. East has a few players with good football speed and football IQ...the remaining 3 games for East will be interesting. Good luck to all the Wilkes County teams. This is just friendly banter. Again way to represent...to all Wilkes County teams...Lets keep it going...!!!

You didn't hear me comment that WC won't get beat deep. I totally agree that EW has a better defense than WC. I have seen them play every game. Every Patton TD except 1 or 2 went more than 40 yards. Surry Central, I don't recall any TD going long, most of their drives were clock eaters and multiple plays. They did get out of 3rd and long a couple of times by getting behind our corners which has been a weakness all year. Where I think the difference comes in for the EW game is that they will play up and fly around which isn't something you get from WC every Friday night. They have to get by an 0-8 Elkin first which gave West all they could handle but I don't read into the scores, every match up is different. Ashe beat Alleghany 55-19 and WC beat Ashe 46-12, that last score for Ashe was against the JV 8 qtr guys. Therefore, don't read much into the scores, only the win/loss column.

CWMS i saw you guys against Patton and Surry Central they both broke off big plays. No team is so atheletic that a big play cant happen against them. EW defense is head and shoulders better than WC.

Just seemed the question came from someone who knew more about a situation and was just trolling. There are never any surprises when it comes to Boles and his decision making, just hope he gets through those issues before he waste a special gift.

As for the EW and NW vs Central, you are right, it will be very difficult to beat either with the play from Friday night. They better find some consistency.

Its hard to get behind Central. Nobody has scored long TD's on them however methodically driving down the field against them has worked depending on what Central team shows up. They will show up for the big games. East will score but it won't be big plays, Central is way too fast and athletic in the secondary but the front7 is open to pick up chunk after chunk. Boles will be back next week and he's a weapon on offense and defense but Parsons is just making cuts and blowing by everyone.

Parsons is amazing. But, i dont see WC beating EW without Boles in the line up. Yes, Parsons is fast and no one will catch him from behind. EW also has a few players that wont be caught from behind as well.

I agree, EW will have their hands full. But if the WW team that beat Elkin by only 3pts, or the WC that beat Alleghany by only 1 pt shows up against, then you know what will happen.

They are jekyl and hide. They always have been in all sports it seems. WC occasionally plays to their competitions level. The have the talent to beat anyone and everyone in the conference. I will say they need to figure out that defense. Embarrassing to allow Alleghany methodically drive down the field and successfully convert 4th down after 4th down. They just seemed off except Parsons but he is by far the fastest player in the conference so that's irrelevant.

East will have their hands full with Central and West as well.

CWMS..why act like thats a weird question, based on his antics in the past? This was a very legitimate question. Hope is ok though. Wow Alleghany gave those athletes from Central a scare? They sure havent been a problem for anyone else in the conference. Wilkes Central will have their hands completely full with N.Wilkes and E.Wilkes, if Alleghany was a 2pt attempt away from beating all those athletes from Wilkes Central. What happened?

Why would he be off the team? He hasn't played the last 2 weeks due to concussion protocol but should be back for next Friday's game.

First of all the notion that WC has more athletes than EW is about as false as you can get. Winning is one of the keys to bringing out more kids to the game. Those kids that are on the fence about playing will be more likely to come out for a winner then a team that can't. Leadership also has a big part in this, from coaches down to the seniors and leaders on the team. Hard work has to be put in to be competitive and that goes for coaches down to the benchwarmers. As for the tackling dummy comment that is also pure ignorance. If your second string is nothing more than tackling dummies then chances are your team sucks. If you work drills against nothing more then that your starters get slack and your second string stays sorry. Nobody will be available to keep play consistent if a starter gets hurt.

Central has just over 900 students this year so they are much bigger than EW but that doesn't equal more football players or greater success. We are still all in Wilkes County and limited on "super-athletes". There are many good athletes at each school which keeps it competitive. The "super-athletes" are concentrated south and east of here which is why we all get ousted before we can get to the regional finals. If both EW and WC stay healthy, it will be a great game like last year. Like I said in a previous post, WC can learn from the participation with lesser students going in football at EW. I don't think it is all coaching or like the issues that some feel are going on in the Ashe program, it has a lot to do with desire by the kids. You can make it has fun as you want but some are just lazy even with a ton of motivation.

topflight, u mention WC having "200 plus" more students to pick from.....Just to correct you......I believe from last years ADM numbers.....{the actual number of students turned in to the state for playoffs].....East, being big 1A had like 525 students while WC had 1087...being big 2A, .so that is in excess of 500 more students . Over double the size of number of students at the school. Ashe, another big 2A had almost 1100......so the numbers from which to choose from at any 2A school will be drastically more than at a 1A school......just like it would be for a 3A against a 2A and so on and so on. Elkin, a little 1A school had slightly less than 400 I believe so as you can see----there is a correlation to size of classification and number of students.

I wish WC the best as well. They will be tough to beat this year in the conference. I'm not counting EW out though. There are several tough games for EW before the WC game.

Lol. Wilkes Central has been to the 3rd rd twice. So has EW. Central has definitely not done any better than East. If anything they consistently underachieve in the playoffs, when pitted against schools their size.

Probably because Todd Gurley graduated and moved on.

Tarboro moved down from 2a to 1A a couple of years ago. They won a 2a state championship before dropping to 1a. They havent sniffed the championship game in the 1a ranks since moving down.
