Yes conference was weak. WW played West Caudwell (3A) close twice, West Forsyth (4A) down to the last inning. That’s the 3 loses. West Caudwell started there #1 the first game and threw their #2 & 3. 2nd game they started their #2. West Forsyth threw their #3 starter. WW beat South Iredell (3A) who threw their #1. Beat West Iredell (2A) 13-3. I would say that’s a good non conference showing. That said 1 pitcher can knock you out anytime

You are not considering that the Conference is horrible?? No big Runs in 2A sorry..

Up the middle (Stotler, Lackey, Hamilton) West is as good as anyone, gloves, arms and speed defensively. At the corners 1B (Miles) can’t be any better, I dk if he’s made an error in 2 yrs & digs everything. 3B (Stone) has been amazing, some errors scored on him hv been questionable (bad hops & shots). Ledford in LF or mound makes it look routine. Church behind the plate makes up with his arm. Top of the line up (Lackey/Church) OBP is amazing while Stotler hits for power and avg Miles seems to get an extra base hit every other AB. Ledford has gotten hot lately, giving the (3-4) more protection. 6-9 have been getting on consistently the last 5 o 6 gms.
A good draw may see them getting to the 3rd week of State Playoffs

I agree WW is deeper pitching than I thought they would be. Ours is getting hot at the rt time. But our draw will surely be tougher bc of seeding. WW is #4 2A team on MaxPreps so they should get a better & more deserved seeding. Our Defence has been weak all year. While WW has been very good. We rely on 1 player to carry us & he’s done a heck of a job doing it. Our bats need to follow our pitching of late. WW have several that can do the job on a given night

Wrong, WW beat Brevard in the 1st rd last year and lost in 2nd rd to Mt Pleasant. West lost 2 position players from last year. This years D is better overall, more speed in outfield and infield has been more than solid. More depth pitching also this year, used a basic 2 man rotation last year with Greggory in relief. This year 6 different pitchers have started and won at least 1 gm with 4 consistently winning in & out of conference. With all that said, it’s single elimination and if a pitcher is on 1 run can beat you. I hope both West and central can win a few

I would be very surprised if any 2A team makes it past 2nd round.. WW was much MUCH better last year and went out in round #1..2A. if WC and WW were 1A yes I would agree ..

Overall conf is weak. Top 2 WC & WW tho can compete with most 2A teams, not all of them. If S. Brooks stays hot WC go to 3rd rd. Our bats overall hurt us but, pitching is picking up to where I thought it would be. WW pitching has been impressive but, bats & D has been very consistent. Stotler & Miles have been the heavy hitters and everyone has been solid gloves. Could make a run into the 4th rd

Anything can happen but Blackhawks are hot. Stotler, Miles, Ledford seem to be driving everybody in. If Lackey & Church are getting on that’s 1-3 runs in that inning.6 thru 9 have been coming through in big spots lately also. Central has very good pitchers left with a tough job. Game will have to be low scoring to be close. Both teams could go several rds in state. Go Hawks

This Year the Conference is as week as I have ever saw it.. Its never Strong , but it is usually a pretty tuff 1A conference.. But this year it is absolutely pitifull!!!!!

Not saying I know it all by any means. Just stating what I do know. From what I hear (from other parents so take for what its worth) decided to step back due to personal reasons with rumors of parents complaining about him. No idea if true or not. As far as the BBQ club and $5000 donation, cant say that I've ever heard of either of those. But would love if youd tell us more.

Asking neighbors kid what's going on? Sounds like someone else has the issues maybe? Not too long ago nw was an easy win for us and most other conference teams. Dont know much but I do know they are no pushover the past few years and any team around will say that. Those coaches helped tremendously with finding my son a place to play in college and the college coaches speak highly of them. You folks should be glad you have them and support them, not some mad parents or players that quit. If they can hit, field, and pitch they'll be on the field. If not, theyll be on here bashing coaches. Same story, every school, every sport. We would gladly add them to our team of coaches!

Gobigbluego, i have a daughter that plays softball at north and know personally the entire situation there. If you really want to know what the coach is like you should ask some that played for them in the past and stuck it out. Early graduation, missed practices, and lifes circumstances played roles for all of them as well. Age doesnt matter to the coach as it shouldn't. As for the freshmen, focusing on basketball, being inelligable, and 1 is playing still. Nothing on the school or coach there. Playing time is based on talent and work ethic. We are lucky to have a coach here that doesnt play the daddy ball or political stuff. With 5 sophomores starting, and the fact that they have played even the best teams down to the wire, I'd say the future is bright for north. I know of a couple other schools that would love to have our coach on their staff and if we're not careful that could happen! The principal and AD are not there to please the parents or the kids by giving them what they want when they whine about the coach being hard on them or holding them to high standards. Their job is to hire the best teacher and coach to push them to be their best and educate them, and that's exactly what we have here. We've already lost good coaches because of those type things and it needs to end.

123 thanks for the info. I had been told different by my neighbor's kid who plays. So I asked him for more details and I also know several parents of the team, who I went to school with and asked them also. One Sr did graduate early and did not play but when asked he said he did not want to play for the coach. There are four other Srs who did not play cause they said they do not want to play for the coach. The Frs who played at middle school last year and did not play this year (only one on the team) said they were not playing cause they did not want to play for the coach. This is what I was told by multiple people, if it is true looks like the AD and Principal might want to look into this.

Just not any kids coming out as freshmen this year. Everyone who finished the season last year and is a senior is playing this year with the exception of one kid who graduated early.
