meat weight?

The problem is that chicken breasts, split or otherwise come in a variety of sizes. I bought a relatively cheap kitchen scale off Amazon and find that I use it all the time. They have several for under $10.00 and of course, I am sure they have them at Wally World. It's good investment.

There's really no good answer to that! If you have the bones in and all that, any weight that you use is going to be wrong for the recipe.

All you can really do is strip the meat from the bones, then measure it out with a measuring cup. Or, do like I do, and eyeball it. Most people eat around 8 ounces per serving, so you can eyeball about how much you normally eat and figure that it's close to 8 ounces.

If you have a food scale and can weight the split chicken breasts, then it's safe to assume that 1/4 of it is going to go to waste. So to get 2 pounds of meat, you need about 2 2/3 pounds of split chicken breasts.

What, approximately, does a split chicken breast weigh? I have bulk packs of breast that don't have a weight on them and recipes that have a certain weight (for instance, 2 pounds) of meat in it. Thanks.
