I need a recipe for chicken like the fire stations use

Posted 9:17 am, 06/07/2015

I bought a gallon of sauce from a man off of 421, I think his name is Mr. Luffman, not sure of that, but I could tell you how to get to his house though.
I ran into his daughter picking up a half-pallet of gallon vinegar at Lowes Foods, and being naturally curious, i.e.; nosy, I had to ask what she was going to do with all that vinegar. She said her daddy used it to make BBQ sauce for the fire depts. It's spicy, it's hot, and it's vinegar base. The three requirements for any sauce I use.

Ok here is what you do.

Put your chicken in the refridgrator.

Step two buy you two gallons of kerosine poor all over kitchen

Step three preheat a match.

Step four through match in kitchen

Step five get out.

Steep six walk five miles to your friends house call the fire department.

When all the smoke clears remove chicken from refrigerator. Let cool and enjoy

Cornell sauce is not what the FD's use. No eggs in the sauce here. C.C. Pratt, county extension agent in the mid '50's came up with the basis for the sauce today. It used margarine, which will spoil. Clate Bumgarner developed the sauce that many use today. Not ingredients to spoil. Wesson Oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, red pepper, hot sauce are the main ingredients

I know I have mopped many a gallon of sauce on chickens over the years

Go to Wilkes Hardware ask to purchase a gallon of the BBQ sauce that they sell. It is good. I think it is Mr Bumgarner 's recipe.

It is a secret, but it is made different ways by different fire departments and organizations. Just take a gallon of apple cider vinegar, a pint of vegetable oil, 1 cup of salt, 1/2 cup of black pepper, you can add crushed red pepper if you wish and maybe more salt......you will just have to season it to your liking.....but that is it.
