I have a dog who I think needs medication for arthritis, but I don't know which vet would have reasonable fees. Any suggestions?
|
You probably don't need a vet. Buy your dog some glucosamine treats from Waggles on Main Street, and give them to your dog daily. It might take a few months, but the glucosamine will help rebuild the cartilage between his joints. That's a lot more effective than arthritis medication that just numbs the pain, and can actually make the joints worse by letting him rub bone against bone without realizing it.

they are fantastic!....When I had so many large dogs....Dr.Allred would come out, vaccinate, do a poop scoop....put it in a baggie and blood test for heartworms for a rediculously low amount of money plus he enjoyed the day out....

With 3 cats, two dogs and two donkeys, vet house calls are very convenient.

Agree Riverside is good. Very welcoming staff and Dr Miller is a very good vet. Agree also that Twin Oaks is exceptional. We use them when we are up that way on vacation in the summer. Very laid back and great fees while providing very good treatment.
When back down the mountain, we use Blue Ridge Mobile Vet Services. Dr Eads is a "local" boy who is trying to build a practice. He can and will make house calls or will meet you at his barn on Swan Creek road. We went there several times in the last couple months to get puppy shots. Most often meetings were 7:30 or 8 PM. He is going to neuter this wild puppy on the 27th. He has a mobile anesthesia unit and can do very simple in his barn office. His mobile number is 244-4529.

I've used them all....its never good to block out a specific vets office cause you never know who will be available at your time of need. Even with three different locations....I say good luck STILL if you need emergency service.

The Animal Hospital on Curtis Bridge Road have always been very fair and competent. Much more reasonable than the Vet's here in the Winston area.

I think you guys mean Riverview, not Riverside. I agree, he's the best vet in the county. I've used all three, and given a choice, I'd pick Dr. Miller at Riverview every time.
