Highest taxes?? Reckon there s any chance cause the govt. spends more on defense than any nation in the world? Huh.That ain t half of it?We spend more than the next 11 (eleven) biggest spending nations on defense combined? The world has 11 aircraft carriers? The U S owns 10 of them..Defense is great..But just exactly are all these carriers defending us from? 450 ICBM s out in the west underground? Reckon just how many it would take to destroy Russia? Did nt the last people that attacked us use $1-2.98 box cutters to comanndeer our planes and use them as missles against us?
(that might have something to do with our tax rate?)

In the book Downsize This, Moore claims that every business, including his own, should always involve labor unions, but his own hiring practices have included dissuading employees from joining unions, not giving writers proper credit, and moving film production out of the country to save on production costs. It is explained that Moore is well known for being obsessed with money.
In closing, Moore is summarized as having become extremely wealthy and an icon of the "international left wing" due to frequently painting the American public as being "racist, greedy, exploitive, uncaring, and criminal," but Moore exhibits many of those same traits that he criticizes.

Surprising facts about the filmmaker Michael Moore, from the book Do As I Say (Not As I Do)
In Stupid White Men, he explained an anecdote where he claimed he doesn't own a single share of stock but rather keeps his money only in a savings account,(24) and he made the same claim in 1997 to the online magazine Salon. However, it has been shown that Moore and his wife Kathleen Glynn have a private foundation that they established soon after they started making money from Roger & Me, which allows them to donate tax free, and make money on their investments. The Foundation apparently had investments of at least $400,000 when he made the statement of not owning stocks in Stupid White Men.
It has been shown that Moore had invested in major pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer, Merck, and Genzyme through his foundation despite publicly railing against such companies. Most surprisingly, Moore had invested in defense contractors such as Haliburton, Honeywell, General Electric, Boeing, and Loral. It is also shown that most companies Moore invested in are high tech firms that outsource production to countries like China, and do not involve unionization. He has also invested in many energy companies, including Sunoco, Noble Energy, and Transocean Sedoco.
It is shown that claims Moore made about his foundation's donations have been exaggerated, and he has given away only the minimum necessary to maintain the foundation's charitable status, with much of the donations going to friends and organizations which later provided favors to him, a common example including his funding environmental projects in the proximity of his exclusive lakeside residence which helped to maintain his property values.

Michael Moore has 9 mansions? Wow. I wouldn't mind having just a plain and simple house to live in instead of a mobile home that is literally falling down around my ears. There are so many with so much it makes my head spin. Makes me wonder....do they think they have enough? How can you live in 9 mansions? You only need one!

Sorry, I was responding to the op's fantasy, that companies would make sub-optimal financial decisions and decide to pay more taxes than necessary; out of a sense of patriotism. Any CFO who did that would be fired so fast it would make his head spin.
Libs often float the notion that patriots would pay more taxes. In practice, self-righteous libs like Michael Moore are shown to be among the biggest hypocrites. That's the reason for talking about his example.
Now, the income tax code has been corrupt since day one. A favorite playground for crooks and tyrants. Should have been scrapped long ago. The IRS is among the most corrupt branches of govt.; evidenced by their destruction of evidence, to cover up their law breaking for Obama.

Uh, Alonzo, the thread is about American companies leaving the country to avoid taxes, not Michael Moore.
Nice try on high jacking it, though.

mtnpirate (view profile) | Posted 4:46 pm, 07/30/2014 | Considering that the USA has one of the highest and least competitive corporate taxes of any developed country in the world, why do you not understand why business's are moving out and taking jobs with them? Business's create sustainable jobs. . . . Big Government does not!

Oh, I don't know....maybe I believe in what republicans are always spouting off about...patriotism and loyalty. I believe if a company makes it's profits here, they should be willing to pay taxes here. Apparently, you and other republicans don't. As usual, your ideas of patriotism ends when it comes to money.

The liberty solution would be to remove the tax penalties for operating withing this country.
Then the problem is self-correcting. Plus we would have foreign companies flocking to this country for our favorable climate.
Of course, that never occurs to the collectivist tyrants.
