Mel, there hasn't been a change in policy at all, and when I was considering it, it had nothing to do with your post. Rest assured, that was nothing new; the simple rule is that if I can't verify the claim, then it's not allowed.

The change in appearance is something I've been working on for more than 7 months. I've been promising since February that I would release all these neat new features, but I've only been able to work on it in my spare time (which is few and far in between).

just wonder

If they do put their picture in the paper, I think it would be great! Everyone has a right to have their wedding pic in the paper. I know I would. Screw all the jealous heathens that posted on here about them.

just wonder

But I just wonder if the couple will be crazy enough to put thier phot in the JP now after allthis......if people didnt know who they are, well, they will if it comes out in the paper

Duh-Huh

I Don't think your restaurant post is what caused this change in policy.
All the stink was over the best wedding thread. I think they finally got that under control. They stopped all posting on that one, and things have calmed down.

I am the one who made the post last week about a certain eating place here in town that my husband and I had went to lunch. I do agree and support this change as to posting, but I would like to be informed about the good and the bad when it comes to businesses here in the area. Like most of us, we spend our hard earned money to support our local businesses and have the right to know if someone had a bad experience as well as a good one. I hope this change has not come from my post.

Actually, it's very rare that I have any problem like this. As I've said before, I can only think of 4 times, ever. I have complete faith that the people of Wilkes are better than what a few bad apples are making it seem.

Thank you go wilkes. Your going to figure out the only way you can have total control of this forum is to put ALL threads under review. and post them when they meet your approval and policy. This would cause a little delay in posting , but it would sure keep the names and profanity off the board.

OK, Wraith, I'll accept that. When I merge it with the other thread, it seems much more ominous, but I see that if I leave it as its own thread, it's not so bad. So I reinstated it: "No fun to not be in control."

yep yep and yep

you know, too many people make assumptions on this site. And most of the time, you people are wrong. Like a few post down, someone told Jason he was wrong, but when i read his reply, it sounded like he was very doubtful they were telling the truth.
So why don't you, and when I say You, I mean all of you, treat everyone the same. Don't pick Fav's, because that just causes hostility and eggs the original peeps that came on this site first. just eggs them on and you put up with it. lay off and make everybody play fair, or not at all...good god!!!!

I wonder why?

Wraith

If I wad wanted my message posted within that tread I would have put it there. That is the reason I started the new thread, so it would not be be taken out of context.
Rules need to be the same for all threads. My post was not meant for that thread. It was supposed to bring attention to another problem. My post was in no way vulgar or profane. I wish I could say that about another post that stayed on her at least half the day today. Automated system kinda dropped the ball on that one. I notice that it is now history. Just like mine.

Well, I originally merged it with "Are you staying or leaving," but then I decided to pull the entire thread for review. So I guess that, technically, you could say that I removed 2 threads, but they were the same thing so when/if I put them back, they'll be merged.

Wraith

Which thread did you merge the one that I started???

GoWilkes

Posted 7:56 pm, 07/16/2005

Do you mean, for all time, or just recently? Wraith and Wonder Why are referring to a thread called "Are you staying or leaving," which was designed to be a continuation of a previous thread.

No other threads have been removed in awhile, except for those that were merged with another thread when someone didn't know how to reply correctly.

removal

Posted 7:27 pm, 07/16/2005

which threads have been removed?

Wraith

Posted 5:49 pm, 07/16/2005

I took special care to not name or identify anyone in that post.I shouldn't need to as I stated.
They know who they are.

So says the wraith.

No, it's because they have been trying to continue the other thread that I have marked for review. Again, this thread has been marked so that I can remove any identifying information before it is posted.

wonder why

Posted 4:45 pm, 07/16/2005

Go wilkes you have now removed 2 threads with out any explaination?
Peer pressure getting to you.

Happytrees, the current rule is that I do remove names of people and libel. I don't remove names of businesses, though, unless the discussion is about a person that works there; talking about their service, prices, etc is perfectly fine.

With one exception: if I think that the post is made by a competitor, instead of an honest customer, I'll remove it. I've had to do this twice in the last 2 years (both were about the same business).

I've never made a change in policy without taking a vote. Owner or not, I consider this forum to be owned by the public, so I would never change anything without taking a vote of the registered users.
