Tommy James and the Shondells

Public Event

Friday, May. 18, 2012

The Walker Center, on the campus of Wilkes Community College, will present Tommy James and the Shondells at 8 p.m. The season-ending show is sponsored by Wells Fargo.

The music of Tommy James is played continuously, everyday, in every country in the world and has been for more than a generation. His songs are so ingrained in modern culture that it is difficult to go for more than a day or so without hearing one of them on the radio, TV or a film soundtrack. To date, Tommy's sold over 100 million records and has been awarded 23 gold singles and nine gold and platinum albums. His hits include "Crystal Blue Persuasion," Crimson and Clover" and "Mony, Mony." As of 2010, over 300 artists have recorded their own rendition of a Tommy tune (among them Prince, R.E.M, Joan Jett, Tom Jones, Cher and Dolly Parton) or performed his songs in concert (including Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson and Broken Bells).

With his best-selling book "Me, The Mob and The Music," published in February 2010, and an upcoming movie and play, it's time to present Tommy James and the Shondells.

Audience members at this, the final performance of The Walker Center's 2011-2012 Season, will be given an exclusive preview of what The Walker Center has in store for next season! The Walker Center will begin season ticket renewals at the May 18 performance of Tommy James and the Shondells for those in the audience who wish to renew.

A limited number of tickets are available for this performance. For more information, or to purchase tickets, contact the Walker Center Box Office at 336-838-6260 or [email protected].

The Walker Center and Wilkes Community College are 100% Tobacco Free.
