SNAP (Spay Neuter Assistance Program). Volunteers from the Humane Society of Wilkes will be at the library EVERY Tuesday evening from 6pm-7pm to sign-up people that are interested in receiving financial assistance in getting their dog/cat spayed or neutered.
The program is INCOME RELATED so you must bring with you some type of PROOF OF INCOME (i.e. check stub, last years taxes, social security benefit letter, etc.). If you receive public assistance a FOOD STAMP (EBT) CARD or MEDICAID CARD is acceptable as proof of income and will automatically put you in the lowest income bracket.
FOR EXAMPLE: Person with yearly income below $15,000 spay/neuter dog/cat will be $24 (a savings of about $100). BY LAW all pets must be up to date on rabies vaccination. If your pet is not there will be an additional charge of $7 to include rabies vaccination. Your total would then be $32.
You must be able to pay this amount at time of sign-up as the humane society issues you a voucher that you take to the local vet to pay for the procedure. CASH or CHECK only, NO credit or debit cards.
No matter how high your income we can offer you some assistance. If income over $35,000 a year we issue a voucher good for $30 off cost of spay/neuter.
