5th Annual Veterans Brick Walk Dedication
Begins at 4pm on the front lawn of the museum (old courthouse). To be included in this dedication service the deadline to purchase a brick is September 25, 2009. This will be necessary to ensure the bricks will be engraved and laid in time for the event. With holidays approaching, purchasing a brick in memory or honor of a loved one would be a great gift and also pay tribute to the veteran in your life. Pet Adoption Fair
The Humane Society of Wilkes will hold a Pet Adoption Fair from 12:00 noon until 4:00 pm. Dogs, puppies, cats and kittens will be available for adoption. Adoption fees include vet exam, worming, rabies shot and spay or neuter. Pet related items will be for sale. For more information, visit www.humanesocietyofwilkes.org. Adoption fairs may be cancelled due to unfavorable weather.

Veteran's Day Rememberance Walk
Historic Downtown North Wilkesboro is coordinating a remembrance walk for Veteran's Day. The walk will begin at Melody Square on 6th Street at 10am. Participants will be given American flags and the group will begin walking down Main Street turning up 9th street and continue on to Memorial Avenue (Corner of 9th and D). After the walk, participants will take part in the Memorial Avenue Veteran's Day Service planned by the Memorial Tree Committee. For more information, please call 336-667-4875 or info@hdtnw.org.

Responsible Dog Ownership Day
PET LOVERS/OWNERS - Bring your furry friend for a day of fun! We will have several contests to enter your dog in, microchip your loved pet, purchase items from the HSOW for your pet, and just have fun! If you plan to enter your pet (there is a fee for entry), please bring their shot records to ensure safety for all pets. We will also be giving rabies vaccinations for $7 (to dogs and cats). From 10:30-2pm.
