In that article it said( John Butts said all records of crimes befor 1976 have been destroyed). I can"t understand why they would destroy records of an unsolved case like that. So what could get have to go on?

Is the daughter still married to the Hall man? Surely not if he is suspected of being involved. Does anybody know where she lives? I bet she has moved away from some many horrible memories. Given the way it has affected so many, even after this long, imagine how she is coping.

Pepper did the key people that worked on this case die of Natural causes or were they killed for knowing too much?

I lived in an apartment in front of the road to the Durham house. Things I remember vividly were the

fear and rumors that swept thru the town. Everyone had an opinion, Many questioned the Hall brothers actions and alibi, along with the "Green Beret", the mafia, and on and on. The Durham family and friends, and most of all, the Durhams, deserve justice and truth for closure. Over the years many fine

men and women have worked on this case, key people have died, but now we are living in an era where many past events can now be proven. My prayer is that we are finally able to have the truth in this horrible crime surface and the one or ones responsible get their just punishment.

I lived down the street from the Durmans in an appartment. I remember it was so cold that night. When i found out that happen next door to me and my two sons. I wonted to move fast and i did. I have all ways wondered why ,Whoever did this could be so cold hearted. We may never find out But God knows and they will pay.

I believe it is a split-level type house. There are quite a few other houses around it now- I'm not sure how many were there when this happened. It was very eerie- remember, this was not so long after the Manson murders. I've always believed the son-in-law was involved, but he had to have help. He is a fairly small guy. A couple of other people in his life have mysteriously come to a tragic end. Word has it that he is a successful attorney now in another state. Like some of the rest of you, this case has stayed in my mind all these years- I would like to see the perpetrators charged and convicted.

No..you go out 105 about 3-4 miles and turn right out the by-pass...then you go out the by-pass a couple of miles and turn left in front of some apartments and the house is up on the hill....

Did the son in law and his neighbor contact the law about it after they went into the house? And did they try knocking before going in? I read it, but I'm confused...Gosh! What a horrible thing to happen!!

I was a neighbor to the Durhams when this happened...The house is not on 105...It is on the by-pass that connect 105 and 421....It was so cold that night and the wind was blowing hard so if there were screams no one could of heard them...There were some sleepless nights in the neighborhood for awhile...

This happened when I was very young. I had family that lived in Boone and I can remember them talking about it. It is something I have never forgotten. Does anybody know exactly where the house is? I read it was on 105 but that don't tell me alot. I have often wondered.

WONDERIN, To answer your question. This Hall is in NO WAY, shape or form affilated with Hall Auction. Just wanted to clarify.

There was always speculation that the Hall bros. were involved (Troy and Ray). I was 17 at the time but I remember it well. I was aquainted with Ray and and Troy. I beleive Troy's wife was the sole heir. They split not long afterwards.

Agree with Lil Red about the phone call. I had never heard or do not recall anything about a phone call. Also, I found it interesting that the daughter was left in the car while the other men went in to the house. I guess we will all be playing armchair detectives for a day or two.

My parents and grandparents were friends of the Durhams and I remember that night. I was only 10 years old but I recall my dad and grandpa going up there the night it happened. It was the next morning before they got back home. They didn't elaborate or discuss it except to say it was a very a scene they wouldn't soon forget.

I also recall there being alot of speculation and questions surrounding the son-in-law. The family is buried at Pleasant Home in Roaring River. I have family in that cemetery as well. Can't go there without stirring the "I wonder" thing.

Is this Hall guy the same one that has the auction company now? I never heard of these murders before, but I was very young when it happened.
