Scientists took the Earth's cycle and divided that timeline into smaller portions called months, then months were portioned into weeks, and the weeks into days.
You could say Wednesday is the first day of your week, WTF does it matter.

I wanted to thank you all for your replies. I have been busy and did not get back to this thread.
And Michael, I know what you are talking about with Christ being in the grave three days. I think He may have been crucified on Wednesday. But that is another subject.

Sunshine mountain,,, You wrote that the Resurrection was the first day can you prove The Resurrection was on Sunday biblical. AFTER All Jesus said he would be in the belly of earth for 3 nights and 3 days. Catholic Christianity claim Jesus was killed on Friday and resurrected Sunday sometime. Can you find 3 nights and 3 days from Friday to Sunday. There is a time line that says Jesus was crucified on Wednesday BEFORE sunset. Hope you take the time to find truth.

How were we all taught the days of the week? Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Saturday IS the original Sabbath (as Michael knows all too well) & the 7th day of the week.
Emperor Constantine I legalized Christianity (a good thing) but also declared Sunday the day of rest.
Just because we consider Monday the 1st day of workweek doesn't change the original fact that Sunday IS the original first day of the week. Just look at your calendar. Also, to this day, we teach little kids the days of the week by starting with Sunday.

The 7-day calendar was created in 321 AD by Constantine, so it wasn't in use when Jesus was alive:
According to the article, Constantine intentionally appointed Saturday as the last day of the week because Hebrews considered it to be the Sabbath. And the word "Saturday" comes from "Yom Shabbat," which is Hebrew for "Sabbath."

To all those people who look down on others who do chores on Sunday, how do you know for sure Sunday should be the chosen day of rest?

I want someone to show me where the world population of this planet knows when the first day was? Was it a Friday? A Tuesday? When? The versions of The Bible I have read say that God took the 7th day as a day of rest. If you choose Wednesday as the 7th day, GO FOR IT! Just as long as you have a day of rest, I don't believe anyone can condemn you to ****.

| IN Genesis God created heavens and earth. It says He created man on the 6th day and on the 7th He rested |
that maybe, but he wasn't using modern day man's calendar either...

When I was in the military, in some country, I forget, I believe a saw a calendar with Monday being the first day of the week.

Someone recently told me Sunday was the seventh day of the week. Huh? This person I spoke with, a lifelong Baptist, believes Sunday is the seventh day.
For starters, as I understand it, many Christians say they observe Sunday as a day of rest and worship because Christ rose on that day.
I wanted to be scriptural, and not give just my opinion.
Matthew 28:1-15 mentions the "end of the Sabbath as it began to to dawn toward the first day of the week". Jesus had already risen. The sun was beginning to come up. It was Sunday, the first day of the week.
So by my friend's reasoning, she worships on Sunday because Christ rose on that day (first day of the week) i.e. Sunday=first day of the week. I haven't had a chance to speak to this person again.
I know there are several other texts which mention Sunday/first day of the week. I know this is a no-brainer for most people. I just thought I would share this. Any thoughts?
