We have a mental and social problem here, not a gun problem. Image, if the school had placed Cruz in a anger management program instead of expelling him. Image if the school had taught their students the harm bullying does to individuals. Those kids, those teachers, killed themselves.

I didn't see any proof that an assault weapon was use. What was use was a 22 caliber semiautomatic rifle that had a detachable magazine. This firearm is no different than the many 30 caliber semiautomatic hunting rifles such as the Remington 740, 7400 and so on.

If you don't believe me that teachers are bullies then go to school and be just a little smarter then most of just a little dumber then others or be a little poorer then others.

What kind of schools do you want? A teachers job is to teach, not to police. You got to question why a teacher becomes a teacher. 99% of them are there because they are control freaks. Basically, teachers are bullies.

Per-Capita? I see this as no relevant matter for murder. Murder is what it is. Being said, Palo Alto CA some 20yrs or maybe more back, had the highest murder rate in the entire US with a population of Wilkes CO close to the same. Yet i guess the more populated & congested areas one has more targets to commit such deadly violence. Blessings to the deceased, injured & families in the tragedy in Florida & else where I say arm all teachers where ever they may be. Maybe one with such intentions would think twice before committing such violence & turn back, if not at least there would be some resistance awaiting...

I have no problem with teachers carrying slingshots or Louisville Sluggers on their persons during their workdays, especially considering today's world.

In the mean time schools and teachers should have a fighting chance for self defense.

If you are waiting on the Federal Government to remove these weapons, you are in for a long one. California is the only state I know off with a ban on these pseudo assault weapons.

EVERY SCHOOL SHOULD HAVE A WELL TRAINED TEAM OF TEACHERS AND STAFF ARMED WITH NON-LETHAL TACTICAL WEAPONS AND THE ABILITY TO CONFRONT THOSE WISHING TO DO HARM.
