Mongo quit going when they quit serving alcohol. :) Used to never leave by myself unless I wanted to. Seriously, good time to be had, Mongo just got too old to stay up past eight o'clock.

They play mostly Country Music, & some older Rock-n-Roll. there is no age limit, because they don't serve alcohol. They do sell drinks, & snacks. (hotdogs, popcorn, drinks)

my guess is that a good time is what you make of it. This sounds like it could be a fun time on Saturday nights in this town. We all know that there isn't much to do here so why not support what we have instead of putting it down.

Last time I went it was 6 bucks to get in. They sell drinks and snacks but no alcohol. Plenty of places to sit and big dance floor. Have seen teens to elderly there. I don't smoke but don't believe I saw anyone smoking in there. They play a wide range of music. Very relaxed atmosphere. Good place to go! Doors open about 6:30 or 7:00. Its a good place to go on Saturday nights. Not expensive and good atmosphere. There is usually a good crowd ranging in age from teens to 80s. You get a chance at free admission and can opt to buy a ticket for the 1/2 and 1/2 drawing. Good variety of music tho sometimes a few of the musicians get really really loud. They play everything from Bluegrass to Country and Old Rockabilly and classic rock type stuff. Line Dancing,Slow Dancing,2 stepping and clogging. No where else in this town offers all this in a place you can take your whole family.

It sounds like a great event...except for the music. Is there anything like this with a good non-wasted family friendly vibe, but without the country music? bluegrass ok, rock, dance, jazz...

Don't see anything that would be a "let down"......FELLOWSHIP among friends sounds like a great thing..everybody getting out and having fun. Great place to go and spend a Saturday night if you ask me. From what I read in the paper ( Record ) they must be doing something right. They have outlasted any other place this county has ever had.

wow its a big let down same seniors every sat. night same songs every week save old band . wish some one would open a good place to go dancing and enjoying a good night of fun. kids running around same old people win every time and he sells the tickets he wins the money and passes.
lets get something going good hear guys . no smoking they smoke out on porch. 6 dollars for a person yes to 3rd 70and up to 90.blue grass country gospel. flat food dancing lol. water and coffee and pop corn. brings something to sip on in drink can lol.

hiway 115 at the VFW on Saturday nights. there is a sign at the hiway saying dance Saturday 7:30 -10:00 or something like it. but is in the VFW building. they also have a new years eve dance no matter what day it falls on, with non-alcoholic punch and it stays open till midnight but the price is $10 but you get your horns and such also I believe, not positive, there is a valentines day dance is $6:00, may be $10. if you go you can ask the people at the door taking up the entrance fee and they could tell you. IF YOU WIN THE FREE SATURDAY NIGHT ON THE TICKET DRAWING GO TO THE ENTRANCE AND GIVE THE PEOPLE YOUR NAME AND KEEP YOUR TICKET BUT WRITE YOUR NAME ON IT. GIVE THEM THE TICKET THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY AND TELL THEM YOUR WON THE FREE SATURDAY AND AT THE DOOR.SHOW THEM YOUR TICKET. THAT TICKET YOU GET WHEN YOU PAY YOUR ENTRANCE FEE. IT IS USUALLY A RED TICKET. THE HALF AND HALF TICKETS ARE EXTRA AND YOU MUST PAY FOR THEM HALF WAY THROUGH THE DANCE IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT. THEY COME AROUND TO YOUR TABLE AND SELL THOSE. HAVE FUN.
