It's not uncommon at all for people in higher up positions like this to get a slap on the wrist, or even to get away with it entirely.

A few years ago, I remember the Director of Housing Authority was arrested for fraud and embezzlement. I forget how much money he stole, but the county eventually just let it go, I think because they were embarrassed that he got away with it for so long.

It wasn't too long ago that a WCC professor was arrested for fraud and embezzlement, saying that he taught classes that he never taught. He got a $700 fine and probation.

And the infamous Neil Cashion case, where he just got probation. And I can't even remember everything that Tom Bowman got away with.

The truth of the matter is that if we don't talk about it and just let it go, then nothing will happen. They're waiting for everybody to forget so it can be calmly swept under the rug.

It's not special treatment. There's something that causes some to drop off.

Well there's something funny about if you make bond it's removed if you go to the Mobile patroll website about 95 percent of the people that made bond months ago are still there with there picture still there and the Wilkes attorney gets his removed the next day is that fair to the other 95 percent no I don't think so I guess I'm wrong by thinking everyone should be treated the same but I realized I'm still in Wilkes county

A lot of stuff disappears from mobil patrol. I dont know why, but it does. I tried to go back and find one in ashe that was arrested for drug paraphernalia on the 19th, and its gone. And this was a junkie nobody. Im starting to think if they post bail, it clears off after so many hours

It's weird how attorney in Wilkes county can be charged with 15 misdemeanors and 3felonies and get aressted and go to jail and the next day it'sgone from mobile patroo l it's weird how things can just disappear if you are buddies with Tom horner I bet all those charges will just disappear also boy all that cocaine really makes black eyes. That's probably why the Mobile payroll picture got gone so fast

A woman was sentenced to 55-78 months in prison on Feb. 22 after she pleaded guilty to numerous felony offenses involving insurance settlement payments.

Kristy Cass Ferrell, 40, of 4941 Old Salisbury Road, Union Grove, was sentenced in Wilkes Superior Court by Judge Patrice Hinnant.

Kristy Ferrell pleaded guilty to multiple counts of embezzlement and obtaining property by false pretense, forgery of a certificate of title, insurance fraud and conspiracy, all felony offenses.

She was also ordered to pay certain amounts in restitution, including $93,000 to the N.C. Bar Association and $48,500 to Jay Mathis.

Co-defendant Graham Randell Waddell, 46, of 1011 Austin-Little Mountain Road, Ronda, was ordered jointly responsible for compensating Mathis.

Waddell pleaded guilty in October to similar offenses, including multiple counts of obtaining property by false pretense, and received suspended sentence in Wilkes Superior Court.

He was also ordered to pay $52,000 in restitution.

Warrants say Kristy Ferrell and Waddell negotiated insurance settlements and embezzled and converted settlement funds to their own use. They were charged after a five-month Wilkes Sheriff's Office investigation.

According to warrants, Kristy Ferrell and Waddell were employees of R. Tyson Ferrell Attorney at Law on Brushy Mountain Road when at least some of the offenses occurred.

Some of the warrants identified R. Tyson Ferrell Attorney at Law as a victim.

Capt. Brandon Absher of the Wilkes Sheriff's Office said Det. Nancy Graybeal became aware of other offenses while investigating the case and filed additional charges this month.

Graybeal charged Ronald Tyson Ferrell, 52, of Short Street, Wilkesboro, with 12 misdemeanor counts of failure to withhold tax, three felony counts of attempting to evade or defeat tax and three misdemeanor counts of failure to pay tax.

She charged Chasity Adarose Harrold, 32, of Springview Drive, Millers Creek, with one misdemeanor count of failure to pay tax and one felony count of attempting to evade or defeat tax.

Graybeal charged Stanley Don Cass, 71, of Old Salisbury Road, Union Grove, with two misdemeanor counts of failure to pay tax and two felony counts of attempting to evade or defeat tax.

She charged Josephine Forsythe Cass, 68, of Old Salisbury Road, Union Grove, with three misdemeanor counts of failure to pay tax and three felony counts of attempting to evade or defeat tax.

Ferrell, Harrold, Stanley Don Cass and Josephine Cass were arrested Friday.

Absher said Helen Call Speaks, 79, of Statesville Road, Union Grove, and Angel Speaks Caldwell, Old Salisbury Road, Union Grove, have been charged but not arrested.

Absher said Helen Speaks is charged with three misdemeanor counts of failure to pay tax and three felony counts of attempt to evade or defeat tax. He said Angel Caldwell is charged with one misdemeanor count of failure to pay tax and one felony count of attempt to evade or defeat tax.

Go over to WCC and enroll in the upcoming fall BLET class, then get back to me.

It doesn't change anything. BLET would be a joke if it wasn't scary that it's so short
