I have a roku TV and a firestick on another TV....function about the same. You have access to the same stuff you just go about getting to the channels in different ways. I have had firestick for about 3-4 years....

I have both a Roku and a Fire Stick. I honestly can't remember the last time that I used the Fire Stick, though. The Roku has built-in memory so it runs faster, while the Fire Stick I have doesn't have memory and buffers a lot.
I prefer the older Roku because they allowed direct internet connections, which are faster. The newer ones are WiFi only.
A lot of people use the Fire Stick for Kodi (or some other type of torrent software), but that's a huge pain to use and, in my opinion, not worth the effort.

I like that if I go anywhere on vacation etc. I can take it with me.

You don't need any of those devices. All you need is access to the internet.

Yes, ...its okay. The only good thing other than reducing expenses is you can block and eliminate channels you dont care about.
