I'll have my 3 Mexicans call the EPA and explain to them what we're about to do and obtain all the needed permits. If I can find even one republican to pose at the area holding a shovel all the media will be called in.

Old Dixie ask around about the earlier sinkhole. I was told by the contractor that repaired it that it was at a junction of 2 pipes. Instead of putting in a concrete junction box originally, they had just cut a hole in the intersecting pipes and thrown a piece of plastic over the junction. Typical work for JC. Shortcut anything he could and not worry about tomorrow

Hmmmm..... has anyone considered that repairing the sinkhole may involve more than just shoveling in dirt? Has anyone considered that without thorough review and planning by experienced engineers, that just throwing shade tree ideas at it may just make it worse? I don’t think the repair is something you can just sketch on a napkin.
Not to mention, we have no insight as to how NCDOT, the EPA, etc are part of this situation. Regulatory agencies have to sign off before anything moves forward.

Not picking a side, but villagers with pitchforks and torches may not be productive.

I've discovered that most people on this site will not respond to and totally ignore an intelligent response. They would much rather carry pitchforks & torches. Tells us a lot about these folks!

I"ll have my three Mexicans wheel barrel in some red clay to surround the new plastic drain pipe from Lowes. I figure we'll bury it about 5 ft at the deep points.

Let's go back to the beginning. A ravine with active water flowing in it along 421. Not worth a great deal. Lay a pipe in the stream, push the hill behind it over the pipe to level the area and it is now worth a fortune. Problem is it was not properly done. Over a period of time water flowing around the pipe eroded the dirt supporting the pipe and failures occurred. Result? More water outside of the pipe. The first sinkhole appeared about one hundred yards west of the taco sinkhole probably fifteen years before the first taco problem. It was filled and a standpipe installed to the surface to collect surface water. Result ? More water outside of the pipe when a erosion occurred at another pipe failure. In my opinion, the property owner has no intention of fixing the problem as it is now beyond repair and would need to be completely redone.

The water source is 52 to 75 feet below surface. . The area needs to be excavated to be repaired

In order to excavate that deep, means the long-term closure of 421 and demolition of Taco **** and some of the surrounding buildings.

This project will take years and millions of dollars to fix it correctly.

The whole point is getting JC to actually fix it and fix it correctly

Today they have taken down the plastic around the sinkhole and relocated it to the opposite side of WM.Used an excavator and built a berm of dirt in place of the plastic barricade.Anoter in the Sinkhole Saga of Wilkesboro.

I heard today that ole JC is buying/has bought the old 421 Motors building. Doesn't have enough money to pay for the repairs at Taco Hedoublehockeysticks or pay his taxes to IRS but can keep buying.
