Maybe you should look up the requirements to become a US citizen. You have to pass a speaking English test, a writing English test and a reading English test.

You do have to learn English to become a US citizen unless you're over 50 and have lived legally in the US for 20 years.

The vast vast majority of French citizens speak French, and many speak other languages in addition.
