Yea, it is smart to risk your life for an $8.00 an hour job.

Just a note, It's probably not best for a cashier to "confront" a would-be-robber for a few dollars. Let it go. Let the cops handle it. Repeat as necessary.

Confronted? That is another word for attacked by the store employee.

There is also strong arm robbery where no weapon is used but physical force, for instance pushing some one down or striking then with fists.

The story clearly said no weapon was seen . The person was suspected of shoplifting. They don't even know that for sure. The store tried to stop him from leaving and he resisted and left. Why can't you read? Just go to "Local Interest" and read the story.

What i read tfr was a pistol was put on counter at Bmtn. Yet the suspect was only confronted by store workers before leaving DG towards school... The stories may have changed by now, but you worked for FBI, CIA an so on, so i assume ya know the deal. Oh.. i forgot about PIPE DREAMS...

No, I don't think I have anything confused. The story is on local interest. Go read it for yourself.

Except for the difference, Armed Robbery and Shoplifting are exactly the same.

tfr:: Think your confused between the armed robbery @ Brushy Mtn. store. Yet that's not unusual for you...

Even that can't be proven because the person left and either didn't have a weapon or was able to get rid of it.

timeforreason

I don't think there was a crime committed here or at least a crime that can be proven. They thought they saw someone put something in their pocket. They never say anything or found anything. The person left the store and if something was taken no one can prove it now. The weapon thing was made up in order to charge someone with something. Most likely by the police person who responded.

There is something fishy about this story.

I go in looking for a certain item and if they don't have it, I leave without buying anything.

As a cashier with someone taking property what ever it may be, would you ask to see their weapon if they did or didn't have one? Why would anyone go into a business without needing anything?... Would color of skin matter??

What was stolen? Was anything actually stolen or is this a case where the customer was brown?

still makes them a thief, that you can't deny!

a person who steals another person's property, especially by stealth and without using force or violence.

There was no armed robbery. It was a shop lifter. Facts need to be known before printing stories on this site. Big difference between a armed robbery and a shop lifter!! This story has turned our community upside down. I specifically talked to a store associate he did use the word robbery then I asked what kind of weapon did they use. I heard him talking to another associate said no weapon just a shop lifter. I told him there is a big difference between a armed robbery and a shop lifter.
