The amount they claim is paltry even without a book. Who would settle for that amount? Even when Trump was only a millionaire, he made sure the world knew who he was. That's pocket change for a bombshell like that would have been.
She would make millions before she ever typed a word.

The report said Clifford, now 38, had complained after signing the agreement that the payment wasn’t coming quickly enough and threatened to can the deal and break her silence.
In 2016, the Wall Street Journal reported that Clifford was set to appear on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to discuss Trump in an article regarding the National Enquirer paying off a former Playboy centerfold $150,000 for a story about an affair with Trump.
The Journal reported the alleged affair with 1998 Playmate of the Year Karen McDougal also took place in 2006.
She was slated to tell her story to the supermarket tabloid, but the articles never appeared, according to the report.
Trump is longtime friends with David Pecker, the chairman of American Media which owns the National Enquirer.

The payment was made to Ms. Clifford through her lawyer, Keith Davidson, with funds sent to Mr. Davidson’s client-trust account at City National Bank in Los Angeles, The Journal reported.

The story is the hush money paid and potential blackmail of a POTUS, not the consensual affair
The fact that a President of the United States paid hush money in order to cover up such an affair is the story.
The President could be blackmailed.
This lends more credence to the "pee pee tape" and that Putin has blackmailed the President.

A former star of p**nographic movies received a $130,000 payment a month before the 2016 election that was part of an agreement to keep her from publicly discussing a sexual encounter she claimed to have had with Donald J. Trump, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday afternoon.
The Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, reported that Michael D. Cohen, who was a top lawyer at the Trump Organization, arranged the payment to the woman, Stephanie Clifford, after her lawyer negotiated a nondisclosure agreement.
Ms. Clifford, who was billed as Stormy Daniels in her videos, said the encounter with Mr. Trump took place in July 2006 after a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, The Journal reported. Mr. Trump married Melania Trump in 2005.
The payment appears to have been made in the final stretch of the campaign, around the same time that a recording of Mr. Trump making vulgar comments about women while filming a segment for “Access Hollywood” surfaced, in a report by The Washington Post roughly a month before the presidential election.
In that recording, Mr. Trump boasted of sexual assaults and celebrity entitlement, and the ensuing reaction led to a number of women coming forward with allegations of groping, kissing and other sexual misconduct
