Well, when one's starting point is Stalinism, then yes, fascism is indeed "right wing" - problem is, on a left-to-right continuum with totalitarianism on the left and anarchy on the right, fascism is only a millimeter to the right of communism - both are far-left ideologies as their proponents' writings and actions make clear and which was commonly and correctly understood by both scholars and the public until WWII - at which time the stench of the Nazi-Soviet Pact made it necessary for communists to even more sharply differentiate themselves from their ideological twin - hence the origin of the "fascism is right wing" myth.
Both were in fact left-wing - both competed for adherents among the same types of people - both Soviet communism and the German variant of fascism were racist ("Great Russian chauvinism" did not cease being a thing with the fall of tsardom, Stalin's Georgian heritage notwithstanding). The principal difference between them was that the fascists understood that state ownership of the means of production was a losing proposition and instead maintained private ownership in the context of firm state control via bureaucratic regulation - a phenomenon that should sound familiar to many of you and which many economists today euphemistically refer to as a "mixed economy."
Indeed, the history of the Eastern Front during WWII has been aptly characterized as a socialist civil war. As bad as the fighting in the West was - I buried my father with two German bullets still inside him - the Eastern Front was ghastly. Part of the reason for that was precisely because it was not just a foreign war but in ideological terms a fratricidal one. Civil wars are almost always more brutal than foreign wars. Put another way, looking at all the religious wars throughout history, which tended to be worse - the wars against infidels or the wars against heretics? The same principle applies here.
No, it is leftists who slander Republicans advocating less government with the fascist brush who are projecting - Mussolini's characterization of fascism as "all within the state, nothing outside the state, nothing against the state" is thoroughly left wing in orientation. The merger of state and corporate power - under the benevolent leadership of the badly misnamed Democrat Party, of course! - that is a true picture of American fascism.

It is the fascist democrat party that had been evolving into what we have today for the past sixty years.
They created the KKK, killed a lot of black people, bombed some churches, murdered several little black children in their church bombings , burned crosses in yards, elected one of them to Congress. Hillary took pictures with him, hugging him, called him 'her mentor".
They mowed black people down into the streets with powerful water hoses, drug them off to jail because they hated black people who wanted freedom. It's all part of the real democrat history that your lies won't erase.
Democrats still consider black people beneath them, still want them held down on the democrat plantation. They Hate Trump because he is going to take enough of the black vote they've depended on for votes, to make it impossible to win an election. A democrat, Margaret Sanger, hated black people and wrote that she wanted the black race removed from the earth. So she started an organization to kill their black babies, and called it Planned Parenthood. The only plans Sanger had was to kill as many black babies as she could. She called them 'vermin' in her writings. Her writings of hate for the black race can be read by even you mush brain fascist. Just google.
